Netflix Unleashes Animated Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 — Because Clearly We Needed More Upside Down Drama
Well, well, well — look who finally decided to cash in on the nostalgia train while it’s still chugging along! Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated series that apparently takes place in that magical window between Seasons 2 and 3 when everyone was still rocking mullets and eating Eggo waffles like it was their job.
Set to premiere on April 23, 2026 (because apparently Netflix likes to make us wait longer than Eleven’s perm grows out), this animated adventure promises to fill in the gaps of Hawkins’ most traumatic winter ever. According to the official description, our beloved gang is just trying to enjoy some good old-fashioned snowball fights and D&D sessions when — shocker — something terrifying awakens beneath the ice. Could it be a Demogorgon? A Mind Flayer? Or just Steve Harrington’s hair gel supply finally running out?
The teaser shows off some new creatures that look like someone crossed a Demobat with whatever Halloween decorations were left at Party City, plus what appears to be a Demogorgon-Pumpkin hybrid because why not? We also get to see Mike nearly getting sawed in half before Eleven casually stops a blade mid-air with her powers — you know, just another Tuesday in Hawkins.
Showrunner Eric Robles claims this series lets us “freeze time” with the characters, which is convenient since they apparently couldn’t afford to pay the original cast for voice work. Instead, we get Jeremy Jordan (yes, the Hazbin Hotel guy) voicing Steve, along with a completely new cast including Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven and a bunch of other people you’ve probably never heard of unless you’re really into voice acting circles.
The Duffer Brothers seem pretty confident about this one, claiming they want audiences to feel like “bad things can happen to anyone.” Bold strategy, Cotton — let’s see if it pays off. Meanwhile, fans are still stuck in what I’m calling “Conformity Gate,” desperately trying to process that Stranger Things Season 5 ending while Netflix keeps throwing new content at them like psychic fireballs.
And if this animated series wasn’t enough to satisfy your Hawkins cravings, there’s also an unnamed live-action spinoff in the works that might follow Eleven’s solo adventures. Because clearly, one Stranger Things universe wasn’t enough — we need an entire multiverse of traumatized teenagers fighting interdimensional monsters while sporting questionable 80s fashion.
So mark your calendars for April 23, 2026, when Netflix will undoubtedly remind us that in Hawkins, winter isn’t coming — it’s already frozen over with terror, trauma, and probably some really good synthwave music.
