A new CNN poll has found that a record-high 73% of US adults think President Donald Trump hasn’t paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems. That’s a pretty staggering number, if you ask me. Just 27% of respondents said they think Trump has had the right priorities. I guess that’s what happens when you’re busy tweeting and not, you know, governing.
It seems like Americans are getting increasingly frustrated with Trump’s handling of, well, just about everything. The Iran war, the economy, gas prices – you name it, people are unhappy about it. Roughly two-thirds of Americans think Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions, and around three-quarters say he’s not in touch with the problems ordinary Americans face. That’s a lot of people who think the president is out of touch, if you know what I mean.
Trump’s overall approval rating is at a career low of 34%, which is pretty impressive (or not, depending on how you look at it). Half of Americans strongly disapprove of him, which is also a high. And among Republicans, his approval rating has hit a new low of 78%. I guess even his base is starting to lose faith in him. Bless their hearts.
The poll also found that Americans are broadly skeptical of Trump’s high-profile projects, like the new White House ballroom and the renovation of the Reflecting Pool. A majority of Americans say they’re dissatisfied or angry about these projects, while only 17% express positive feelings. I mean, who needs a fancy ballroom when you’ve got, you know, actual problems to solve?
It’s not all bad news for Trump, though. A whopping 41% of Americans approve of his handling of voting rights and election integrity. But let’s be real, that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement. And on issues like inflation, gas prices, and immigration, Trump’s numbers are downright dismal. Just 25% of Americans approve of his handling of inflation, while 21% approve of his handling of gas prices. Yikes.
Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, but I just think it’s a bunch of numbers that say the same thing: Americans are unhappy with Trump. You can’t make this stuff up, folks. The president’s attempts to leave his mark on the nation’s capital are falling flat, and his personal business interests are raising eyebrows. More than 6 in 10 Americans say Trump has gone too far in pursuing his personal business interests while serving as president. That’s a lot of people who think he’s putting his own interests ahead of the country’s.
In conclusion, it’s clear that Americans are losing patience with Trump. His numbers are tanking, and his base is starting to lose faith in him. I guess that’s what happens when you’re more focused on your own ego than on actually governing. As I finish my coffee and put down the paper, I have to say: it’s going to be a long few years.
