Oh boy, are you guys ready for some mind-blowing news? 🤯 I just found out that GODSMACK headlined the 32nd edition of the Pol’and’Rock Festival in Poland, and I’m still trying to pick my jaw up from the floor. I mean, who needs a social life when you can play to 700,000 people, right? 😂 The festival, which is completely free to attend (because who needs money when you have rock ‘n’ roll?), featured multiple stages of rock, punk, metal, and folk music, and I’m pretty sure it’s the only place where you can find that many people in one place who are actually happy to be there.
So, what happened? Well, on July 30, GODSMACK took the stage and apparently blew the minds of everyone in attendance. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Sully Erna and the gang perform live? The next day, Sully took to social media to share a video message, where he said: “I had to tell you guys about this show that we did last night… we did a show in Poland at the Pol’and’Rock fest, and we headlined this festival that drew seven hundred thousand people. That’s a real fucking number. You can look it up.” Yeah, no kidding, Sully, we can look it up, but I’m pretty sure we’ll just end up questioning the meaning of life and the universe.
The Pol’and’Rock Festival: Where Music Meets Madness
The festival, created by Jerzy Owsiak, has become a symbol of community, music, and humanitarian commitment. Because what’s more humanitarian than subjecting hundreds of thousands of people to loud music and questionable life choices? 🤷♂️ But seriously, the festival has grown into one of Europe’s largest open-air music events, attracting hundreds of thousands each summer to the airfield in Czaplinek. I mean, who needs a beach vacation when you can spend your summer in a field with 700,000 of your closest friends?
But what really gets me is that the festival is completely free to attend. I mean, who needs profit when you can have a good time? 🤑 Sully Erna himself said: “I don’t know if it gets any more honorable than that for me… This is a top-notch festival, and I could not believe how big this was. It was two and a half miles deep, the audience. And I’m only saying this because I’ve never fucking seen anything like that in my life, and I’m pretty sure I never will again in my career.” Yeah, no kidding, Sully, it’s not every day you get to play to a crowd that’s almost as big as your ego.
GODSMACK’s Current Lineup: Because You Can Never Have Too Many Drummers
GODSMACK’s current lineup consists of vocalist/guitarist Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill, guitarist Sam Koltun, and former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Mangini. Because who needs consistency when you can have a rotating door of drummers? 🥁 Mangini made his live debut with GODSMACK on June 12, following the abrupt departure of Wade Murff, who stepped in as the replacement for longtime GODSMACK drummer Shannon Larkin. I mean, who needs a stable lineup when you can have a game of musical chairs?
