I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Donald Trump’s latest antics, and folks, it’s getting interesting. He’s apparently not too happy with GOP Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, who’s been making waves by breaking with him on his immigration tactics. Trump took to Truth Social to share a series of posts from other users who are critical of Salazar, and let me tell you, it’s a real love fest. One user called her a “back stabber,” while another slammed her for wanting “amnesty for the ppl how criminally crossed our borders defying our laws.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what she said – not.
It seems like Trump is trying to rally his base against Salazar, who’s facing a tough reelection race in Florida. But you have to wonder, is this really the best use of his time? I mean, wouldn’t it be better to, I don’t know, actually govern the country or something? Anyway, Salazar’s been trying to distance herself from Trump’s immigration policies, and it’s clear that’s not going over well with the president.
The congresswoman’s been pointing out that a lot of the people being detained by ICE don’t actually have criminal records, which is a pretty interesting statistic. And Trump’s response? He claims she’s “got a little bit soft on the border” and that she wouldn’t have won her election without his endorsement. Okay, buddy, whatever you say. It’s not like you’re biased or anything.
I did find it kind of amusing that Salazar said she had a “very good conversation” with Trump after releasing her campaign ad, and that he was “very receptive” to her warning that Hispanic voters feel “betrayed” ahead of the midterm election. Yeah, sure, because that’s exactly what I would expect from a conversation between those two – a big ol’ love fest.
In any case, it’s clear that Trump is trying to use Salazar as a scapegoat for his own failed immigration policies. And you know what? It’s just not that convincing. I mean, come on, the guy’s been in office for years, and he still can’t get his act together on immigration. Maybe it’s time to take a look in the mirror, Donald.
As I finish up my coffee, I have to say, this whole thing is just a big distraction from the real issues facing the country. But hey, at least it’s entertaining. And who knows, maybe Trump will finally figure out that his immigration policies are a total disaster. But I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. After all, as the great philosopher once said, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” – and Trump is definitely an old dog.
