It’s not like they have better things to do, like, I don’t know, studying for their exams or something 📚.
So, these teenagers are all different, with their own unique personalities and struggles, because, you know, being a teenager is hard 🤕. They’re all trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in, while also navigating the challenges of high school, like cliques and social statuses 🤷♀️. And, of course, they’re all going through the usual teenage emotions – heritage, belonging, loss, mental health issues, self-image, desire, sexuality… you know, the usual 🙄. It’s like, hello, they’re teenagers, what did you expect? 🤷♂️
The movie, La Gradiva, is named after some old book from 1902, because, you know, that’s exactly what teenagers want to watch – a movie based on a old book 📖. But, hey, at least it’s not a remake of some other movie, right? 🙅♂️. The director, Marine Atlan, is a first-time director, which is cool, I guess 🎉. She spent two years casting the movie, because, you know, finding the perfect teenagers to play teenagers is hard 🤣. And, of course, she shot the movie in a foreign country, because, why not? 🌍.
The movie is all about observing these teenagers and their lives, because, you know, that’s exactly what teenagers want – to be observed 🕵️♀️. It’s like, hello, can’t you just leave them alone? 🙅♂️. But, hey, at least the dialogue is natural, right? 🗣️. I mean, who needs scripted lines when you can just have the actors improvise and hope for the best? 🤣. It’s like, wow, this movie is so raw and genuine, just like real life 🙄.
And, of course, the movie is long, because, you know, teenagers have so much attention span 🙄. It’s like, hello, can’t you just make it shorter? 🕰️. But, hey, at least it’s not boring, right? 😴. I mean, who needs a plot when you can just have a bunch of teenagers talking and stuff 🗣️. It’s like, wow, this movie is so deep and meaningful, just like real life 🙄.
Anyway, La Gradiva had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, because, you know, that’s exactly where all the cool kids go 🎉. And, of course, it’s getting great reviews, because, you know, critics love movies about teenagers 🙄. It’s like, hello, can’t you just review a movie about something else? 🤷♀️. But, hey, at least it’s not a bad movie, right? 🎥. I mean, who needs a good movie when you can just have a movie about teenagers? 🙄.
