Democrats Take Advantage of Airport Chaos to Demand Concessions
The Department of Homeland Security has been shut down for over a month, leaving TSA agents furloughed and airport security lines stretching for miles. But Democrats see this crisis as an opportunity to push their radical open borders agenda. They’re demanding that ICE agents be banned from wearing masks during raids and that judges be required to sign off on deportations – even for violent criminals and MS-13 gang members.
Republicans have rightfully resisted these absurd demands, which would cripple our ability to enforce immigration law. But now the liberal media is trying to turn public opinion against the GOP by hyping up the airport wait times. A recent poll showed that while 31% of Americans support the Democrats’ position, a whopping 42% oppose the Republicans’ stance. This just shows how effective the left’s propaganda machine has been in brainwashing the American people.
Trump Fights Back Against Democrat Extortion
President Trump isn’t backing down to Democrat blackmail. He’s announced that ICE agents will be deployed to help at airports, demonstrating his commitment to both national security and reducing wait times. The President also threw a wrench in negotiations by demanding the “SAVE America Act” be included in any deal. This common-sense bill would require proof of citizenship to vote – something the vast majority of Americans support.
Of course, Democrats are now crying that Trump is “prolonging the shutdown.” They conveniently forget that Senate Republicans have repeatedly blocked Democratic attempts to fund TSA separately. The truth is, the left wants to keep DHS shut down as long as possible to inflict maximum pain on the American people and blame it on Trump.
Democrats’ Leverage Fading as Public Loses Interest
Two months after the tragic deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, the public’s outrage over illegal immigration has subsided. The liberal media has moved on to breathlessly covering the war with Iran, leaving little oxygen for the shutdown debate. Only 20% of Americans are even following the story closely.
This lack of attention could spell doom for Democrats’ radical demands. Without the emotional momentum from the Good and Pretti killings, the left’s leverage is fading fast. Republicans should hold firm and refuse to cave to Democrat extortion. The safety and security of the American people must come first, even if it means a few extra minutes in airport security lines.
