The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Definitely Not Vaporware and Will Totally Be Released Before the Heat Death of the Universe According to XBOX CCO Matt Booty Who Definitely Isn't Just Trying to Get You to Buy an XBOX

It’s finally been eight whole years since XBOX announced The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3 2018, and we’ve got a whopping zero updates to show for it 🙄. But hey, Matt Booty, the Xbox CCO, says it “looks amazing” 🤩, so I guess that’s supposed to make us all feel better 🤷‍♀️. I mean, who needs actual gameplay or news when you’ve got a vague promise from a suit, right? 🤑

It’s baffling, really, that there’s still no news about The Elder Scrolls 6, which has been in development at Bethesda for, oh, only eight years now 🕰️. I mean, it’s not like they’re trying to make the perfect game or anything 🙄. It’s not like they’re still trying to figure out how to make a game that’s better than Skyrim, which, let’s be real, is a pretty high bar to set 🏆. But hey, Matt Booty says it’s coming along well, and that’s all that matters, right? 🙏

This week, when XBOX CCO Matt Booty sat down with Variety to give an after-SGF 2026 debriefing, the host asked the big questions, like why Marvel’s Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6 weren’t shown at this year’s XBOX Games Showcase 🤔. And, of course, Booty deflected the question about Blade, because who needs to know about a game that’s actually coming out soon? 🙅‍♂️ But he did say that The Elder Scrolls 6 is “coming along well” and that it “looks amazing” 🤩, so I guess that’s supposed to make us all feel better about the lack of news 🤷‍♀️.

When asked about The Elder Scrolls 6 and its absence from the showcase, Booty said, “I would say one of the more challenging balancing acts of someone in a job like mine is balancing that you want to go show the world all the cool stuff you’re working on, and you want to get them excited early, but we also know that we want to wait till the right moment 🕰️.” Yeah, because eight years isn’t a long time to wait at all 🙄. And then he said, “And when you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got 🎉.” So, I guess that means we can expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to be the best game ever made, or at least that’s what Booty wants us to think 🤔.

Booty then declared, “So I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen ‘Elder Scrolls’ playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well 🔥.” Wow, what a relief 🙌. I was worried that The Elder Scrolls 6 was going to be a total disaster, but now that Matt Booty has seen it and says it “looks amazing,” all my worries are gone 🙅‍♀️. And when he said, “And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time 🕰️,” I just about lost it 😂. Because, you know, eight years isn’t a long time to wait for a game, and I’m sure the announcement will be totally worth it 🤩.

Todd Howard’s recent comments have also emphasized The Elder Scrolls 6 development 📊. On the Kinda Funny Gamescast in February 2026, Howard referred to Starfield and Fallout 76 as ‘creative detours’ and said: “as we come back to Elder Scrolls 6 that we’re doing now, we’re coming back to that classic style that we’ve missed, that we know really, really well 🙏.” So, I guess that means The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be just like Skyrim, but, you know, better 🤩. Because who needs innovation when you can just go back to what worked before? 🙄

While no new gameplay or news has been released by Bethesda regarding the next Elder Scrolls title, it apparently “looks amazing” 🤩, and Todd Howard says all hands are on deck, which are hopeful developments 🚀. I mean, who needs actual news when you’ve got vague promises from game developers? 🤑 It’s not like we’re all just dying to know what’s going on with The Elder Scrolls 6 or anything 🤷‍♀️. But hey, at least Matt Booty says it “looks amazing,” so that’s all that matters, right? 🙏

So, to sum it up, The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in development, and it “looks amazing” 🤩. But don’t worry, it’s only been eight years, and I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait 🕰️. I mean, who needs a game that’s actually coming out soon when you can have a game that’s been in development for almost a decade? 🤔 It’s not like we’re all just getting older and older, and our interest in The Elder Scrolls 6 is just fading away 🙅‍♂️. But hey, at least Matt Booty says it’s coming along well, so that’s all that matters, right? 🙏

👏 So, to all the fans out there who are still waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, don’t worry, it’s coming 🕰️. And when it does, it’ll be totally worth the wait, I’m sure 🤩. I mean, who needs a game that’s actually coming out soon when you can have a game that’s been in development for almost a decade? 🤔 It’s not like we’re all just getting older and older, and our interest in The Elder Scrolls 6 is just fading away 🙅‍♂️.
