This week, when XBOX CCO Matt Booty sat down with Variety to give an after-SGF 2026 debriefing, the host asked the big questions, like why Marvel’s Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6 weren’t shown at this year’s XBOX Games Showcase 🤔. And, of course, Booty deflected the question about Blade, because who needs to know about a game that’s actually coming out soon? 🙅♂️ But he did say that The Elder Scrolls 6 is “coming along well” and that it “looks amazing” 🤩, so I guess that’s supposed to make us all feel better about the lack of news 🤷♀️.
When asked about The Elder Scrolls 6 and its absence from the showcase, Booty said, “I would say one of the more challenging balancing acts of someone in a job like mine is balancing that you want to go show the world all the cool stuff you’re working on, and you want to get them excited early, but we also know that we want to wait till the right moment 🕰️.” Yeah, because eight years isn’t a long time to wait at all 🙄. And then he said, “And when you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got 🎉.” So, I guess that means we can expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to be the best game ever made, or at least that’s what Booty wants us to think 🤔.
Booty then declared, “So I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen ‘Elder Scrolls’ playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well 🔥.” Wow, what a relief 🙌. I was worried that The Elder Scrolls 6 was going to be a total disaster, but now that Matt Booty has seen it and says it “looks amazing,” all my worries are gone 🙅♀️.
