Sebastian Bach Saves Humanity With 80s Rock At Transformers Anniversary Bash

Oh boy, where do I even start with this one? 🤯 I just got word that Hasbro is throwing a 40th anniversary party for “The Transformers: The Movie” and I’m still trying to process the sheer magnitude of this event. I mean, who wouldn’t want to celebrate four decades of robots punching each other? 🤖 It’s not like we have better things to do, like watching paint dry or waiting for a new Metallica album. 🤣 Anyway, the party took place on July 23 at the House of Blues in San Diego during Comic-Con week, because what’s a better way to spend your time than surrounded by sweaty nerds and overpriced merchandise? 🤷‍♂️

The concert, dubbed “The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Celebration Of Life Concert”, featured music from “The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition” performed live by KNIGHTS OF UNICRON. Because, you know, the world was missing a live performance of the Transformers soundtrack. 🙄 The show also featured appearances by former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach, Stan Bush, Vince DiCola, and more. I’m not sure what’s more surprising, the fact that Sebastian Bach is still relevant or that he’s not too busy selling his soul to the highest bidder on reality TV. 🤑

The concert also featured COLD SLITHER, who returned to the stage after last year’s live debut at Comic-Con, bringing their loud and rebellious sound straight from the world of G.I. Joe. Because, you know, the world needs more G.I. Joe-themed music. 🎸 And, of course, no Transformers party would be complete without JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, featuring original singer Britta Phillips. I’m not sure what’s more nostalgic, the music or the fact that I had to Google what JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS were. 🤷‍♂️

The Setlist

The concert featured a plethora of songs, including the JEM theme song, “Only The Beginning”, “Twilight In Paris”, and “Truly Outrageous”. Because, you know, the world was missing a live performance of the JEM theme song. 🙄 COLD SLITHER also performed their hits, including “Welcome To The Swamp”, “Knock Em Dread”, and “Cold Slither”. I’m not sure what’s more impressive, the fact that they have a song called “Cold Slither” or that they managed to come up with a name that’s not already taken by a million other bands. 🤣 KNIGHTS OF UNICRON also performed their rendition of “The Transformers Theme” featuring Brittney Slayes, because who doesn’t love a good Transformers theme song cover? 🤖

The “Apology Tour”

The concert was part of Hasbro’s “Apology Tour”, a playful, year-long campaign celebrating the 40th anniversary of “The Transformers: The Movie” and acknowledging the moment fans still haven’t quite recovered from. I’m not sure what they’re apologizing for, the fact that Optimus Prime died or that the movie was actually kind of terrible? 🤷‍♂️ The tour will feature a wide range of events, including the film’s return to theaters in 4K, because who doesn’t love watching a 40-year-old animated movie on the big screen? 🍿

The “Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition” brings 10 re-recorded, reimagined tracks from the iconic film, featuring performances led by THE KNIGHTS OF UNICRON, a band of world-class musicians featuring Gus Rios, Matt Harvey, and Ross Sewage. I’m not sure what’s more impressive, the fact that they managed to assemble a supergroup of musicians or that they came up with a name that’s not already taken by a million other bands. 🤣 The album also features guest appearances by Stan Bush, Sebastian Bach, Brittney Slayes, and more. Because, you know, the world was missing a Transformers soundtrack with a bunch of random guest stars. 🤷‍♂️

In conclusion, the “Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Celebration Of Life Concert” was a thing that happened, and I’m still trying to process the sheer magnitude of this event. 🤯 I mean, who wouldn’t want to celebrate four decades of robots punching each other? 🤖 It’s not like we have better things to do, like watching paint dry or waiting for a new Metallica album. 🤣 So, if you’re a fan of Transformers, or just a fan of watching weird things happen, then this concert was definitely for you. 🎉
