Pluribus: Another Sci-Fi Show? Oh Great, Just What We Needed

apple tv pluribus

Apple TV+, bless their cotton socks, 🙄 has decided to grace us with a “glimpse” (read: the bare minimum to keep us peasants interested) at Pluribus.

Apparently, it’s the most “highly anticipated” drama EVER. I mean, who even anticipates dramas anymore? It’s from that Vince Gilligan guy, the one who squeezed every last drop of mediocrity out of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” Remember those shows? Yeah, me neither. Anyway, it stars Rhea Seehorn, who, get this, got TWO whole Emmy nominations for “Better Call Saul.” Two! Someone give her a medal 🏅… for participating. This nine-episode “drama” (I use the term loosely) will be inflicted upon the world 🌎 via Apple TV+ starting November 7, 2025, with new episodes dropping every Friday like clockwork, probably to bore us all to tears until December 26. 😴

They’ve already greenlit a second season! Can you believe it? 🤣 Apparently, “Pluribus” is some kind of “genre-bending original” (whatever that means). The premise? The most miserable person on Earth (probably me after watching the first episode) has to save the world from… happiness. 🤮 I’m already reaching for the antidepressants.

Besides Seehorn, we have Karolina Wydra from “Sneaky Pete” (never heard of it) and Carlos-Manuel Vesga from “The Hijacking of Flight 601” (sounds thrilling…ly dull). Oh, and Miriam Shor from “American Fiction” (another instant classic, I’m sure) and Samba Schutte from “Our Flag Means Death” (is that a threat?). Basically, it’s a who’s-who of people you’ve vaguely seen somewhere but can’t quite place. 🤔

“Pluribus” is brought to you by the geniuses at Sony Pictures Television, executive produced by Gilligan and a whole bunch of other people with fancy titles. I’m sure they’re all very talented, but let’s be honest, it’s probably going to be another overhyped, underwhelming streaming series that we’ll all forget about in a week. 🙄 But hey, at least Apple TV+ is giving us something to complain about, right? 🤷‍♀️
