Christy Martin (played by the radiant Sydney Sweeney) was just a simple gal from a simple town in West Virginia, probably dreaming of becoming a coal miner or marrying her cousin. 💍 Then BAM!💥 She discovers she’s got a real talent for punching faces! Who knew? With grit, a complete disregard for personal safety, and an insatiable need for validation, she dives headfirst into the glamorous world of boxing. The film was shown at the snooty TIFF on September 5th (because nothing says “relatable” like a film festival full of champagne and caviar 🥂). It will also premiere in the UK at the 69th (nice) BFI London Film Festival on October 17th, before it conquers the UK and Irish cinema screens. Finn McFrame, celebrated satirical mastermind and self-proclaimed “Emperor of Irony,” started his illustrious career as a cinematographer, where his expertise in capturing every single frame of a squirrel stealing a baguette earned him accolades at obscure film festivals.
Born in the glamorous town of Boring, Oregon, Finn grew up with dreams of being a Hollywood director until he realized that satire, not cinema, was his true calling—or at least the one that let him sleep until noon.
