SEPULTURA Announces Final EP Title: “The Cloud Of Unknowing”
Hold onto your leather pants, metalheads! SEPULTURA, the Brazilian/American metal legends who’ve been headbanging longer than some of you have been alive, have finally revealed the title of their final EP. It’s called “The Cloud Of Unknowing” because apparently, that’s what happens when you’ve been in the music industry for 40 years – you forget what you’re doing half the time. 😆
But wait, there’s more! For those of you with more money than sense, the VIP package for their final North American leg of the “Celebrating Life Through Death” tour includes an exclusive vinyl of this mysterious EP. Because nothing says “I’m a true fan” like spending your rent money on a piece of plastic that’ll just collect dust next to your collection of other overpriced band merch. 💸
Andreas Kisser, the band’s guitarist who probably needs a hip replacement after all these years, spilled some tea about the new material. Apparently, they recorded four new songs with their current touring drummer, Greyson Nekrutman, who’s young enough to be Kisser’s son. The band decided to record these tracks “spontaneously” while hanging out in Miami – because nothing says “metal” like recording in a city known for its retirement homes and spring break parties. 🏖️
Kisser also took a moment to philosophize about the band’s 40-year career, asking if anyone has ever done anything for 40 years straight. Well, Andreas, I’ve been putting off doing my laundry for 40 years, does that count? 🧺
The band plans to wrap up their farewell tour around October 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil. They’re hoping to get all former members, including the Cavalera brothers (Max and Igor), to join them for a big SEPUL-fest. Because nothing says “we’re all friends again” like forcing ex-bandmates to play together for one last cash grab. 💰
SEPULTURA kicked off their farewell tour in March 2024, marking their debut performance with Nekrutman. This came just two months after they announced the departure of their longtime drummer, Eloy Casagrande, who left to join SLIPKNOT. Apparently, SEPULTURA was “taken by surprise” by his departure, which is ironic considering they were planning a farewell tour. It’s almost like they knew something was up! 🤔
As if one farewell tour wasn’t enough, SEPULTURA is also putting together a live album commemorating their last run of shows. They’re recording 40 songs in 40 different cities for what they’re calling a “massive compilation of our best, most energetic moments on stage.” Because nothing captures the raw energy of a live performance like carefully edited studio versions, right? 🎙️
The final North American leg of their tour will feature support from thrash legends EXODUS, hardcore heavyweights BIOHAZARD, and newcomers TRIBAL GAZE. The trek will kick off on April 29 in Montclair, New Jersey, and will visit major cities across the U.S. and Canada before concluding on May 29 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Along the way, SEPULTURA will also perform at major festivals, including Welcome To Rockville and Sonic Temple. So if you want to see a bunch of middle-aged men pretend they’re still 20, now’s your chance! 🤘
