In a shocking turn of events, former CANNIBAL CORPSE and current SIX FEET UNDER guitarist Jack Owen has revealed that he’s not a huge fan of one of his own albums 🤯. In a recent interview with Made In Metal, Owen confessed that the 1991 CANNIBAL CORPSE album “Butchered At Birth” is his least favorite 🙅♂️. We’re not sure what’s more surprising, the fact that he doesn’t like the album or that he’s just now admitting it after all these years 🤔.
Owen also dished out some juicy gossip about his creative chemistry with his former CANNIBAL CORPSE and current SIX FEET UNDER bandmate, vocalist Chris Barnes 🤫. Apparently, their songwriting process is super simple: Owen writes a song, demos it, records it, and sends it to Barnes, who then gives it a thumbs up or down 👍/👎. We’re not sure if this is a testament to their bromance or a sign of Barnes’ lack of effort 🤷♂️.
When Owen left CANNIBAL CORPSE in 2004, he cited a lack of enthusiasm for the music and a desire to pursue other interests 🚫. But don’t worry, he didn’t stray far from the death metal scene 🤘. He joined DEICIDE and played on four of their studio albums, because why not? 🤷♂️. And in 2017, he reunited with Barnes in SIX FEET UNDER, because old habits die hard 💀.
Owen’s origin story is pretty cool, though 🎸. He grew up in Akron, New York, and developed a passion for heavy metal music, inspired by bands like SLAYER and METALLICA 🤘. He picked up the guitar in his teenage years and never looked back 🎸.
SIX FEET UNDER’s upcoming album “Next To Die” is set to drop on April 24 via Metal Blade Records 📆. The album was produced by Owen and Barnes, because they’re basically two peas in a pod 🌱. It’s the third record they’ve created together since reuniting in 2017, and we’re sure it’ll be a real treat 🎁.
The band’s current lineup features Barnes, Owen, lead guitarist Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella 🤝. They’ll be embarking on a North American headlining tour this summer, with support from KATAKLYSM and WORMHOLE 🚐. And if you’re in Europe, you can catch them on their headlining tour in June with support from EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY 🇫🇷.
So, there you have it 🎉. Jack Owen’s not a fan of “Butchered At Birth”, but he’s still killing it in the death metal scene 🤘. And if you’re a fan of SIX FEET UNDER, you won’t want to miss their upcoming tour and album 🎟️. Stay metal, folks 🤘! 🎸💀🔥
