Oh Joy Another Opportunity to Get Lost in the Woods with a Bunch of Idiots in the Newly Announced Blair Witch Movie That Nobody Asked For Coming 2027

You won’t believe that a film student can stand facing a wall… again 🙄. The Blair Witch franchise is back, because you demanded it (or not) 🎉. For the first time in a decade, there’s a new Blair Witch movie in production, because Lionsgate and Atomic Monster clearly want to torment us with another found-footage horror movie 😱. The new Blair Witch Project is scheduled for release in the fall of 2027, giving you plenty of time to prepare your sanity (and your eyes) for the inevitable “shaky cam” 🤯.

They announced the release in the most Blair Witch way possible: on the internet, because who needs a real marketing campaign when you can just post a cryptic video on Instagram 📱? The video features the numbers “9 24 27” made out of twigs, because who doesn’t love a good stick-figure puzzle 🤔? It’s like they’re trying to say, “Hey, remember that one movie from 1999 that you forgot about? Yeah, we’re making another one, and it’s going to be just as thrilling… NOT 😴.”

The original Blair Witch Project was a massive success, mostly because people thought it was a real documentary 📚. Directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, the movie followed a trio of college students who went missing in the woods while searching for evidence of the Blair Witch 🌳. The movie’s ingenious marketing campaign, which used the internet in ways that were basically unheard of at the time, helped to popularize the found-footage subgenre of horror 🎥. And by “popularize,” I mean it spawned a thousand terrible imitators 🤮.

But despite the success of the first movie, the subsequent attempts to continue the series have been, well, let’s just say “less than successful” 🤦‍♂️. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 was a disaster, grossing only a fraction of what the original made 📉. And don’t even get me started on Blair Witch (2016), which was a “secret” sequel that was only revealed at Comic-Con 🤫. That movie was like the creepy cousin at the family reunion – you didn’t want to talk to it, but it just wouldn’t leave you alone 🙅‍♂️.

But maybe, just maybe, this new Blair Witch Project will be the one to break the curse 🧙‍♀️. I mean, it’s being directed by a YouTuber, so that’s a recipe for success, right? 📹. The new movie is scheduled to premiere on September 24, 2027, giving you plenty of time to prepare your excuses for why you won’t be watching it 📆. So, get ready to face your fears (or not), because the Blair Witch is back, and she’s bringing her trusty stick figures with her 🎃. 🙄💀👻🔪️💣🕷️💥👺👻🕸️💀
