I mean, who didn’t see this coming? 🙄 It’s not like we’ve been begging for the return of Hole’s iconic albums on vinyl or anything… 🙄 The wait is finally over, and on September 18, 2026, via UMe, we’ll be able to get our hands on physical reissues of “Pretty On The Inside”, “Live Through This”, and “Celebrity Skin”. Because, you know, the world was just missing that one thing to make it complete 🌎.
These reissues will be available in multiple configurations, because who doesn’t love a good format war? 🤷♂️ We’re talking 1LP black vinyl, 1LP exclusive color vinyl, 1LP zoetrope vinyl (whatever that means 🤔), CD, and more. It’s like they’re trying to make our wallets cry 🤑.
The Return of the Classics
Let’s start with the seminal debut “Pretty On The Inside”, which is returning in multiple formats, including a limited 35th-anniversary-edition 2LP “Starbelly Splatter” vinyl. Because, hey, who doesn’t love a good anniversary? 🎉 This edition will feature new gatefold artwork, a lithograph of a rare band photo, and a newly remastered 12-inch vinyl of the original “Teenage Whore” single, complete with bonus tracks “Burn Black” and “Drown Soda”. I mean, it’s not like we’ve heard these songs before or anything 🙄.
And, of course, “Live Through This” and “Celebrity Skin” are also getting the reissue treatment, with new mastering for vinyl and all that jazz 🎸. “Live Through This” will be available as a 1LP 180g black vinyl with the original booklet or a 1LP zoetrope vinyl (there’s that word again 🤔) featuring animated loops drawn from the album’s original music videos. “Celebrity Skin” will also be available as a 1LP 180g black vinyl and 1LP zoetrope vinyl with animated loops from the album’s iconic music videos. I’m starting to think that “zoetrope” is just a fancy word for “stuff that will make you dizzy” 🎢.
But wait, there’s more! 🤩 Exclusive Record Store Day Essential color vinyl editions of all three albums will be available at independent retail on October 23, 2026. Because, you know, we didn’t already have enough vinyl to clutter our shelves 📦.
A Look Back at the Band’s History
For those who may have forgotten (or were born after the 90s 🤦♀️), Hole’s debut album “Pretty On The Inside” was released in 1991, and it was a game-changer 🔄. The original lineup, consisting of Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson, Jill Emery, and Caroline Rue, recorded the album at Music Box Studios in Los Angeles with co-producers Don Fleming and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth 🤘.
Then came the platinum-certified “Live Through This” in 1994, which was, you know, kind of a big deal 🤯. The album was recorded with the late Kristen Pfaff on bass and Patty Schemel on drums, and it’s still widely regarded as one of the defining albums of its era 📆. And let’s not forget “Celebrity Skin”, which was released in 1998 and debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 📊.
So, there you have it 🎉. Hole’s first three albums are being reissued, and the world will never be the same again 🌪️. Or, at the very least, our record collections will be a little more complete 📚. Who’s excited? 🤗 (Just kidding, we’re all just going to complain about the price and the fact that we already have these albums on CD or something 😒).
