OH NO, THE WOLF IS COMING! 🐺💥 Swedish traditional metallers WOLF are releasing their tenth studio album, “Hour Of The Wolf”, on November 20, 2026 via Fireflash Records, and I’m not sure if the world is ready for this level of metal madness 🤯. The LP’s first single, “Death Satellite”, will arrive on August 21, and I’m already imagining the chaos that will ensue 🤪. WOLF vocalist/guitarist Niklas Stålvind commented: “Some of the songs on the album explore the outskirts of the WOLF universe, but this one is a straight-up banger with all the classic WOLF elements. If you have heard us before, you will recognize the sound within seconds.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what I want – more of the same old WOLF sound, said no one ever 🙄.
The Classic WOLF Sound: Because You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks
So, what can we expect from “Hour Of The Wolf”? More of the same old-school metal that WOLF has been peddling for decades, of course 🙄. I mean, who needs innovation or progression when you can just stick to what you know and love, right? 🤷♂️ Niklas Stålvind continued: “While our A.I. overlords use algorithms to plant thoughts in our brains, we offer some old-school, man-made metal so we won’t go insane.” Ah, because nothing says “rebellion” like a bunch of dudes in their 50s playing the same riffs they’ve been playing since the 90s 🤣.
But hey, at least they’re consistent, right? WOLF’s ninth album, “Shadowland”, came out in April 2022 via Century Media Records, and it was… well, it was more of the same 🙃. And let’s be real, if you’re a fan of WOLF, you’re probably not looking for anything new or exciting 🤷♂️. You just want to hear those classic WOLF elements and rock out to some good old-fashioned metal 🤘.
Niklas Stålvind: The Metalhead Who Refused to Grow Up
In a 2022 interview with MetalTalk, Niklas Stålvind talked about WOLF’s early musical influences, and it’s pretty clear that the guy is stuck in the past 🙄. He said: “We just wanted to write and play the music that we enjoyed listening to. We grew up on IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT and the rest of the classic bands, and we hadn’t grown out of it as most people did in the ’90s.” Yeah, because the 90s were, like, so lame 🙄. I mean, who needs alternative rock or grunge when you can just stick to your old IRON MAIDEN records, right? 🤣
And let’s not forget WOLF’s formation in 1995, when classic metal was apparently a joke in Sweden 🤣. Niklas said: “Where we were located in Sweden, I would say classic metal wasn’t a thing at all. Classic heavy metal existed only as a joke, and it was considered as a sign that you were a bit retarded if you listened to it.” Ah, those crazy Swedes and their disdain for good taste 🙄. But hey, at least WOLF was there to bring some much-needed metal to the table, right? 🤘
