Brace your livers and your necks, ye faithful metalheads and hopheads, because the apocalypse is coming… again! And this time, it’s serving IPA flights! On May 2-3, 2026, the holiest of heavy metal hedonism, Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly, will once again descend upon The Fillmore in Philadelphia like a glorious, tone-deaf plague of locusts. Yes, it’s back for its ninth year of sonic assault and alcoholic annihilation, promising to transform your sad little existence into a masterpiece of moshing and malting. And in a groundbreaking move that will surely shock absolutely no one, the fest is going ALL-AGES! That’s right, bring the kids! Let little Timmy see his first stage diver while sipping on warm apple juice. What a time to be alive! 🤘🍻

But wait, there’s more! This isn’t just another festival; it’s a cultural experience, a symphony of sound and suds, a place where your eardrums go to die and your liver begs for mercy. Headlining the Sunday night spectacle are the mighty POWER TRIP, making their first Philly appearance in seven years. Yes, seven years! That’s like a lifetime in dog years or half a social media cycle. They’ll be bringing their signature blend of thrash, hardcore, and pure unadulterated aggression to remind you why you stopped caring about polite society. And on Saturday, the inimitable MUNICIPAL WASTE will grace us with their presence, celebrating the very existence of partying itself. They’ll be playing selections from their magnum opus, “The Art Of Partying,” because apparently, they’re the Picassos of getting wasted. 🎨🍺

But the festivities don’t stop at just two bands, oh no. We’ve got a whole cavalcade of sonic destruction curated with the precision of a blindfolded bull in a china shop. Behold CRYPTOPSY, the Montréal maestros of misery, who will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of their seminal album “None So Vile” by playing songs that are probably too brutal for your mom’s Spotify algorithm. And in a truly historic moment, CRO-MAGS will be performing their legendary album “The Age Of Quarrel” in its entirety to mark its 40th anniversary. That’s right, a whole album about quarreling! How incredibly timely and not at all depressing! 👵👴⚔️

And the hits just keep on coming! We’ve got the freshly reunited progressive psych sludge wizards KYLESA, who will bend your mind and your spine simultaneously. NECROT will be on hand from Oakland to bash your brains in with their brand of death metal. FULCI, the Italian death cultists, will be bringing their unique brand of giallo-inspired gore to the stage. HAGGUS, the bicoastal masked mincecore marauders, will be doing… whatever it is masked mincecore marauders do. And let’s not forget NO/MÁS, the capitol grindcrushers, and BLOOD MONOLITH, the D.C. death/grind blasters. It’s a veritable who’s who of who-the-heck-are-these-bands! 🤔🥁

But wait, there’s more! This festival isn’t just about the music (as if that wasn’t enough). Oh no, we’ve also got beer! So much beer! The liquid courage that makes headbanging seem like a good idea! Once again, the beer side of things is presented by the American craft beer vanguard, 3 Floyds Brewing. They’ll be joined by a host of other breweries who are apparently very metal, including WarPigs Brewing, XUL Beer Company, Magnanimous Brewing, New Trail Brewing Co., Nepenthe Brewing Co., Little Cottage Brewery, Bear Cult Brewing Co., and the flagship meadery, Brimming Horn Meadery. Yes, mead! Because nothing says “extreme” like drinking the beverage of medieval Vikings. 🍻🦄

And for the truly discerning connoisseur of chaos, there’s the “Metal & Beer” ticket, which grants you exclusive access to the Foundry, the upstairs room at The Fillmore. There, you can sample pours from the participating breweries in a “comfortable environment” while still having access to audio and video feeds from the main hall. It’s like being at the concert, but with less chance of being crushed by a mosh pit. Tickets are limited to a mere 500 per day, so act fast if you want to experience the unique sensation of sipping a sour beer while listening to blast beats through a speaker! 🧀🎧

Tickets go on sale on Friday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. ET, but fear not, for there are pre-sales! The Ticketmaster pre-sale begins on Wednesday, December 17 at 10 a.m. local (use code: WARMUP, how fitting). Then, on Thursday, December 18, the 3 Floyds Brewing pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. local (use code: ZOMBIEDUST, because nothing says “I’m excited for a beer festival” like referencing a zombie apocalypse). And later that same day, at 12 p.m. local, the Night Shift Merch pre-sale begins (use code: NIGHTSHIFT, because alliteration is the sign of a truly metal promo code). It’s a logistical labyrinth designed to test your dedication to the cause! 🗝️🎫

So there you have it, folks. A festival that promises to be equal parts sonic devastation and gastrointestinal distress. A place where the music is loud, the beer is hoppy, and the memories are fuzzy. Will you be there? Only if you have the courage, the stamina, and the Pepto-Bismol. See you in the pit! Or the bathroom. Whichever comes first. 💀😎
