Oh boy, are you guys ready for some exciting news? 🤯 SLIPKNOT is working on new music, and I can barely contain my enthusiasm 🎉. I mean, it’s not like they’ve been doing this for decades or anything. In a recent interview with Ben Giese, host of the Ride Bynd podcast, SLIPKNOT guitarist Jim Root talked about the resurgence of nu metal and how it’s affecting their new music. Because, you know, the world was just missing a good ol’ dose of nu metal 😂. Root said, “That happens, man. That’s like fashion, that’s like movies. Everything has a cycle. Things come in and out of cycle… Which is wild, ’cause the new shit we’re [SLIPKNOT] writing does not sound like that at all.” Okay, Jim, we get it, you’re not just a one-trick pony 🐴.
So, what’s the deal with this new music? Well, according to Root, it’s going to be very organic and honest. Because, you know, that’s exactly what the world needs – more honest music 🙄. He said, “We’re not digressing or de-evolving into that sort of a… There’s elements of it. I mean, we write how we write, so we’re always gonna have a little bit of a vibe.” Vibe, huh? That’s code for “we’re gonna make some weird crap and hope you like it” 🤪.
The Nu Metal Revival
Root also talked about how SLIPKNOT got lumped into the nu metal genre back in the day. He said, “I don’t know that we’ve ever been nu metal. I think we just came out at a time when nu metal was happening, so that’s where we got lumped.” Ah, poor SLIPKNOT, victims of circumstance 🤦♂️. But seriously, who cares about genres anyway? It’s all just a bunch of noise, right? 🎧
Root continued to talk about the band’s writing process, saying, “We have so many elements. ‘Cause everybody in the band comes from different musical backgrounds.” Wow, what a unique concept – a band with different musical backgrounds 🤯. He also mentioned that they’re working with producer Matt Wallace, and that the new music is going to be “wild” and “organic”. Because, you know, that’s not something every band says about their new music 🙄.
The Future of SLIPKNOT
So, what can we expect from SLIPKNOT’s new music? Well, according to Root, it’s going to be a mix of fast grind-picking riffs, melodic heavy riffs, and beautiful clean interludes. Because, you know, that’s not a recipe for disaster 🤯. He said, “I couldn’t tell you what the direction of this next record is gonna be. I know I’m writing some of the fastest grind-picking riffs, some of the most melodic, heavy, doomy kind of riffs.” Doom, you say? 🤘
In conclusion, SLIPKNOT is working on new music, and it’s going to be… something 🤔. With their unique blend of nu metal, honest music, and grind-picking riffs, they’re sure to… well, who knows what they’ll do 🤷♂️. One thing’s for sure, though – it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with 🎉. So, stay tuned, folks, and try to contain your excitement 🤯. 🎸
