James Marsden Says ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Basically Just a Cozy Slipper Now

Oh, James Marsden is BACK as Cyclops, you guys! 🙄 Because apparently, we haven’t had enough of him squinting through that ridiculous visor. I mean, who ELSE could possibly play a guy who shoots lasers out of his EYES? Groundbreaking casting choice, truly.👏

Marsden, bless his heart, is reprising his role as Cyclops/Scott Summers in Avengers: Doomsday, because apparently the MCU is just a big nostalgia-fest now. 👴 He’s “excited” to relive his glory days from Bryan Singer’s *X-Men* movie. You know, the one where he was tragically overshadowed by Hugh Jackman’s hair and claws?

“I’ve spent 20 years listening to people say, ‘When are you coming back? When are you coming back? Are you coming back?’ I’m dead. Well, maybe not,” Marsden whined to *Vanity Fair*. Cry me a river, James. 😭 It’s not like anyone remembers Cyclops for anything other than being Jean Grey’s boring boyfriend.

The 51-year-old actor, because time is a cruel mistress, joked about struggling to fit back into his costume if they waited any longer. Newsflash, buddy: you’re already pushing it. Maybe lay off the donuts 🍩 before filming starts.

“It’s been a blast. It really has,” he said of shooting *Avengers: Doomsday*. Yeah, sure, probably a nice paycheck. 💰And who wouldn’t want to hang out with Patrick Stewart, who probably spends half the time forgetting what movie he’s even in?

“It’s been a nice little homecoming to a role that really put me on the map.” Oh, please. The map of mediocre superhero performances, maybe. 😂 “It was the first real event project that I was ever a part of, and a very beloved character, this icon from the comics. And so to step back into that role was pretty special,” Marsden added, desperately trying to convince us (and himself) that Cyclops is still relevant.

Marsden, in a desperate attempt to stay in the spotlight, reminded us that he played Cyclops in *X2* and *X-Men: The Last Stand*. Oh, joy!🥳 And let’s not forget his “tragic” death. Spoiler alert: nobody cared. Also a cameo in *X-Men: Days of Future Past*. Blink and you probably missed it.

But wait, there’s more! Marsden is joined by other relics from the 2000s *X-Men* trilogy: Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellan (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler). I guess the MCU is running out of ideas and decided to raid the retirement home. 👵👴

The movie’s plot? Who cares! The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakandans, and New Avengers will fight Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. (who is back from the dead AGAIN). Honestly, at this point, just throw everyone in and hope something sticks. 🍝

*Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Mark your calendars, if you’re still alive and haven’t been bored to death by superhero movies by then.😴
