OMG 😱! SUNSOFT, the masterminds behind such unforgettable hits like… uh… that one game with the thing? 🤔 Yeah, THEY’RE releasing A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ~Black-Winged Survivor~ (try saying that five times fast) on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. Because, you know, we totally needed another isekai game. 🙄

Apparently, over 1.6 million people have bought into this whole A Wild Last Boss Appeared! thing, so naturally, SUNSOFT decided to milk it dry with its first-ever video game adaptation, A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ~Black-Winged Survivor~. It’s hitting the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 because why not? And for all you PCMR elitists, the Steam version drops on October 6th. Get ready to dive headfirst into a dark fantasy isekai world featuring “fast-paced arena shooter gameplay” (because we haven’t seen THAT before), “Active Skills” (groundbreaking!), and an “original storyline” (yeah, right) and “side scenarios” (because padding is fun!). 🤪

For those of you who haven’t wasted your time reading the novel or watching the anime (good for you!), A Wild Last Boss Appeared! is about some dude who wakes up as a female video game character named Lufas Maphaahl (try spelling THAT without looking it up), the “black-winged overlord” (so edgy!) and leader of the “Twelve Stars of Heaven” (sounds like a boy band). She got her butt kicked by seven heroes 200 years ago, but whatever. Now, Exgate (the game) has changed, humans don’t rule, and the characters have feelings and thoughts (plot twist!). So, Lufas has to wander around and find her old buddies. Riveting, I know. 😴

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ~Black-Winged Survivor~ (still can’t say it) tells an “original” story (doubtful) about Lufas and her crew taking a detour to the “mysterious” (eye roll) Mystletine Tower in the “peaceful” (sure, Jan) town of Mimir. They meet Maia, and then their levels get nerfed. DUN DUN DUUUN! Lufas gets curious and decides to challenge the tower. Because, you know, that’s totally not a generic plot device. 🙄

Besides the “original” story (I’m using air quotes a lot here), A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ~Black-Winged Survivor~ features “new” characters (probably just palette swaps), “sub-scenarios” (more padding!), and a “special graphic” (Ooooh, fancy!). But don’t worry, SUNSOFT is throwing you a bone with a “Previously on…” prologue (because who remembers anything?) and an in-game “Guide Office” (because you’re clearly too dumb to figure it out yourself). 🤷‍♀️

In the “fast-paced arena shooter” (still not convinced), each character has a “unique Active Skill” (gasp!). Here are a few:

  • Winter of Swords – Summon swords? Groundbreaking. 🪦
  • Brachium – BIG. EXPLOSIONS. 💥 Michael Bay approves.
  • Rainbow Sheep – WHAT?! Turning into a giant monster sheep? 🐑 Okay, I’m slightly intrigued. But only slightly.

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ~Black-Winged Survivor~ (I give up) is out now on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. The Steam version drops on October 6th. If you’re feeling particularly masochistic, you can learn more on the SUNSOFT website. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 🤣
