Big News, Folks! 🎉 THE SMASHING PUMPKINS are going on tour… again 🙄. Because, you know, they haven’t toured in, like, a whole year 🤣. This time, it’s to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic album “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness” 🎂. Yeah, we know, it’s a classic 🙌. The “Rats In A Cage Tour” 🐀 will feature two unique sets, including a performance of the entire album, because who doesn’t want to hear “1979” 🎶 and “Tonight, Tonight” 🌃 live for the millionth time 🙄? And, of course, they’ll play some of their other “unruly hits and dark treasures” 🎸, which is just code for “we’re going to play all our old stuff and hope you still like it” 😂.
The tour kicks off on September 30 in Columbus, Ohio 📍, because why not 🤷♂️, and will make its way to 27 other cities, including Boston 🍺, New York City 🗽️, and Los Angeles 🌴. Citi cardmembers and Verizon Access ticket pre-sales start on May 19 📆, because those people are clearly the most important 🤑. Live Nation All Access ticket pre-sales start on May 20 🎟️, and general ticket sales begin on May 21 🎉. Get ready to shell out some cash, folks 💸!
The tour dates are:
Sep. 30 – Columbus, OH @ The Schottenstein Center 🏛️
Oct. 02 – Boston, MA @ TD Garden 🏀
Oct. 03 – Baltimore, MD @ CFG Bank Arena 🏈
Oct. 04 – Brooklyn, NY @ Barclays Center 🏋️♀️
…and so on 🤯.
You know the story 📚: THE SMASHING PUMPKINS released “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness” in 1995 📆, and it became a huge hit 🚀. They’re celebrating its 30th anniversary with a deluxe reissue 🎁, featuring 80 minutes of previously unreleased recordings 🤯. Because, you know, the original album wasn’t long enough 🙄. They’re also releasing a limited-edition vinyl box set 📦, because vinyl is cool again 🎧.
By the time THE SMASHING PUMPKINS released “Mellon Collie”, they were already a big deal 🤩. They had released “Gish” 🌟 and “Siamese Dream” 🌱, and were known for their unique sound 🎵. But “Mellon Collie” took them to a whole new level 🚀. It featured hits like “1979” 🎶, “Tonight, Tonight” 🌃, and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” 🐦. The album was nominated for seven Grammys 🏆 and later became diamond certified 💎.
The 2020s have been a busy decade for THE SMASHING PUMPKINS 📆. They released “Cyr” 🌊, “Atum: A Rock Opera In Three Parts” 🎭, and “Aghori Mhori Mei” 🌴. They even re-released “Machina” 🤖 last summer 🌞. Because, you know, why not 🤷♂️?
So, if you’re a fan of THE SMASHING PUMPKINS 🤩, you should totally check out their tour 🎟️. It’s going to be a wild ride 🎢, full of old hits 🎶 and new treasures 🎁. And who knows, maybe they’ll even play some of their new stuff 🎸. But let’s be real 🤣, we all know what we’re really there for 🎉: to sing along to “Today” 🌞 and pretend we’re still in the ’90s 📆. 🎉🎸🔥
