But, Robert Plant and his new band SAVING GRACE have released the official video for the song “Two Coats” from their EP “Saving Grace: All That Glitters…”, and I’m sure you’re all just thrilled. I mean, who needs personal growth or productivity when you can spend your time watching a 70-year-old rockstar sing folk music? 🙃
So, “Saving Grace: All That Glitters…” was previously available as a vinyl EP on Record Store Day, because, you know, physical music is still a thing, and some people actually care about that sort of thing. The EP features four tracks, including traditional tunes like “The Blackest Crow” and “Two Coats”, as well as covers of songs by Gillian Welch and Bert Jansch. Because, you know, Robert Plant hasn’t already proven himself as a master of music by being the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. He needs to cover other people’s songs to really show off his skills. 🙄
The Genesis of Saving Grace
So, apparently, Robert Plant and SAVING GRACE have been working together since 2019, and they’ve been playing these songs live for a while now. But, you know, who needs a live album when you can just record a bunch of songs in a barn and call it a day? I mean, it’s not like they’re trying to make a statement about the music industry or anything. They just really love playing music in barns. 🐄
Plant had this to say about the song “Two Coats”: “We’ve had these songs that we normally might play on stage that we’ve decided to record. It’s a great Ralph Stanley song called ‘Two Coats’.” Wow, thanks for the insight, Robert. I was really wondering what inspired you to record that song. I mean, it’s not like you just picked it because it’s a traditional song and you wanted to sound folk-y or anything. 🙃
And, of course, no discussion of Robert Plant would be complete without mentioning his previous work. So, let’s talk about his debut album with SAVING GRACE, which was released in September 2025 via Nonesuch Records. Because, you know, that’s not a long time ago at all, and I’m sure everyone is still talking about it. 🙄
The Up The Sharp End Tour
So, if you’re one of the lucky people who gets to see Robert Plant and SAVING GRACE live on their “Up The Sharp End” U.S. tour, you should be thrilled. I mean, it’s not like you’ll be seeing a bunch of old people playing music that your grandparents used to listen to or anything. 🙃 The tour starts on September 18 and goes through October 15, 2026, and special guest Rosie Flores will be joining them for all dates. Because, you know, one rockstar isn’t enough. You need at least two to make a decent show. 🤣
