Oh boy, are you guys ready for some exciting news? I can barely contain my enthusiasm… Bruce Dickinson’s 1997 solo album “Accident Of Birth” is getting a remix, because, you know, the world was just missing that. I mean, who needs new music when you can just rehash the old stuff, right? 🙄
So, let’s get into it. “Accident Of Birth” was Dickinson’s fourth solo album, and it’s considered one of his best works. It was co-produced by Roy “Z” Ramirez and features Adrian Smith on guitar, because why not? It’s not like they were busy with Iron Maiden at the time or anything. The album has some great tracks, like “Man Of Sorrows”, “Darkside Of Aquarius”, and the title track itself. And, of course, who could forget the epic “Road To Hell”? I mean, it’s not like we’ve heard it a million times before or anything.
The Remix: Because You Asked For It
The album has been fully remixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Brendan Duffey, because, you know, it wasn’t good enough the first time around. I mean, who needs the original mix when you can have a shiny new one? And, of course, it’s been remixed in both Stereo and Dolby Atmos, because why settle for just one format when you can have two? Dickinson himself said, “It has been a real pleasure to spend time revisiting my solo back catalogue over the past couple of years alongside Brendan Duffey, remixing it all for Dolby Atmos and really bringing the sonic side of the album completely up to date.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what I wanted to hear – that Bruce Dickinson is spending his time remixing old albums instead of making new music.
But hey, at least the new mixes sound “fantastic”, according to Dickinson. So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who gets to listen to it, congratulations, I guess. The new version of “Accident Of Birth” will be released in the U.K. by BMG in conjunction with National Album Day UK on October 17 and the rest of the world on October 23. Because, you know, the world was just waiting for this moment. And, of course, it’ll be available in both a tri-panel digisleeve CD version and as a double splatter color vinyl in gatefold sleeve, because who doesn’t love a good vinyl?
And, Because You Can’t Have Too Much Of A Good Thing…
Dickinson’s also working on a new solo album, tentatively due in early 2027 via BMG. Because, you know, one album just isn’t enough. This new album was recorded with his touring band, consisting of keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan, and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Näslund. And, of course, it features a collaboration with his son Austin, because nepotism is alive and well in the music industry. Dickinson told TalkShopLive that tracks from the LP “will be out this year, a little bit, so people can hear a little bit of it.” Yeah, because we’re all just on the edge of our seats waiting for new Bruce Dickinson music.
And, in case you were wondering, Dickinson recorded 16 songs for his new solo album over a three-week period earlier this year. Because, you know, quantity is more important than quality, right? He told Rolling Stone magazine, “We did it all 100 percent live. It’s like the anti-A.I. generation.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what I want to hear – that Bruce Dickinson is still clinging to the past and refusing to adapt to new technology.
In conclusion, if you’re a die-hard Bruce Dickinson fan, then I’m sure you’re just thrilled about all this news. But, for the rest of us, it’s just more of the same old, same old. Remixes, re-releases, and new albums that will probably sound just like all his other albums. But hey, at least he’s still making music, right? 🎸
