Oh boy, are you guys ready for some early 2000s nostalgia? 🤯 Because FROM FIRST TO LAST is back with a new EP, “We Were Bleeding Anyway”, and I’m not sure if I should be excited or concerned for my sanity 🤪. The EP is set to drop on October 2 via Fearless Records, and the official music video for the latest single, “They Said Your Ghost Was A Promise”, is out now. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned emo anthem? 🎸
The band’s new singer, Lil Lotus, is confidently at the helm, and the re-energized sound is everything fans know and love about the band – catchy, emotional, and with guitars that will transport you back to the good ol’ days of MySpace and flip phones 📱. When Lil Lotus asks, “Do you want to” over and over in the final third of the song, the answer is a firm and resounding yes… I think? 🤔
The EP and its Tracklisting
The “We Were Bleeding Anyway” EP tracklisting is as follows:
01. They Said Your Ghost Was A Promise
02. Your Name in Red Ink
03. Everything Ends In Silence
04. Picking Clothes To Die In
05. Hate Me All You Want, I Still Got Your…
06. Pale Blue
I mean, these song titles are giving me all the feels 🤯. It’s like the band took all my angsty teenage emotions and put them into song titles 📝.
The band says, “‘They Said Your Ghost Was a Promise’ is a really special song. It tackles the subject of loss of a loved one, and we hope it can resonate with others dealing with the same.” Aw, isn’t that sweet? 🤗 They care about our feelings and stuff. But seriously, the song is actually pretty deep, and I’m sure it’ll resonate with fans who have experienced loss 🌟.
FROM FIRST TO LAST formed in Florida in the early 2000s and helped define the post-hardcore and emo scene with their raw, genre-blurring sound 🌪️. They influenced generations of heavy music, and former vocalist Sonny Moore went on to become the infamous Skrillex 🎶. Founding-era guitarist Matt Good remained a driving force in modern rock, producing for bands like ASKING ALEXANDRIA and SLEEPING WITH SIRENS 🤘. But what’s really cool is that the band has found its original source code of volatile dynamics, indelible melody, and human imperfection, and is now making music shaped by adult experiences of loss, survival, and rebuilding 🌈.
The New Lineup and Sound
Guitarist Travis Richter later co-founded Los Angeles venue 1720, where his path converged with vocalist Lil Lotus 📍. Together they formed IF I DIE FIRST, channeling early screamo for a new generation 📢. Lil Lotus grew up seeing himself in FROM FIRST TO LAST, and his unmistakable tone, visceral screams, and perspective as a lifelong fan make his arrival feel less like a replacement than the closing of a circuit 🔌. By recruiting original bassist Matt Manning and drummer Chris Lent (I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE), the band has found its original spark, and it’s like they never left 🎉.
Now signed to Fearless Records, FROM FIRST TO LAST have returned to live stages and completed a new EP 🎉. This is not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, but rather the next logical step: A blast from the past that refuses to live there 🕰️. So, are you ready to relive the good ol’ days of emo and post-hardcore? 🤔 Because FROM FIRST TO LAST is back, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon 🙅♂️.
