Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest news, and I just can’t help but think that this story is a real head-scratcher. Investigators believe that Tasia Fortune was already dead before her body was hanged from a tree behind an abandoned home in Mississippi, which is just a terrible and disturbing thing to hear. A detective testified that the hanging of Fortune’s body was “staged,” which is just a fancy way of saying that someone tried to make it look like a lynching, and that’s just not okay.
I mean, can you imagine the kind of person who would do something like that? It’s just mind-boggling. The medical examiner’s opinion is that Fortune was already dead, and the police are still trying to figure out why the defendants hanged her body after she was already gone. It’s all just very strange and tragic.
The case has attracted a lot of attention, and I can see why. The scene of the crime is just horrific, and it’s no wonder that people are upset. The police have arrested two men, Jarques Ratliff and Earnest Lloyd Jr., and they’re still looking for a third person. I hope they catch whoever did this and bring them to justice.
It’s also worth noting that Fortune’s mother, Christy Spivey, has said that her daughter was struggling with homelessness and was trying to get her life together.
