This is not a drill, KPop Demon Hunters fans: LEGO has announced a brand new collaboration with the smash hit Netflix animated film.
Well, well, well, look who’s climbing the pop culture ladder faster than a demon escaping a K-pop dance routine! Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters has officially transcended from “that animated movie your niece won’t stop talking about” to “merchandise empire that’s coming for your wallet.” And now, in a move that screams “we’ve peaked as a society,” LEGO has partnered with the demon-hunting K-pop sensation to bring you plastic bricks that somehow cost more than your monthly streaming subscription.
The first LEGO KPop Demon Hunters set will apparently feature Derpy, the fan-favorite supernatural blue tiger who’s probably questioning all his life choices right now. LEGO says the set, which will launch this summer, is “designed for ages 9+” and “great for both play and display.” Ah yes, because nothing says “I’m a mature adult with my life together” like spending $89.99 on a plastic tiger that fights demons while doing choreography.
Watch a teaser for the set, below:
Oh, you want to see a teaser? Sure, here’s what you’ll witness: 30 seconds of dramatic music, quick cuts of LEGO pieces snapping together, and a blue tiger doing the splits while wielding what appears to be a weaponized microphone stand. Your move, Barbie.
“We are over the (hon)moon about this new collaboration!” Lena Dixon, SVP of Product Group, Core Businesses at LEGO, said in a press release. “The movie has taken the entire world by storm, and we just couldn’t wait to work with Netflix on this one.” Couldn’t wait? More like couldn’t count the money fast enough! Meanwhile, Marian Lee, Netflix chief marketing officer, added, “As KPop Demon Hunters continues to break records both on and off screen, we’re delighted to continue expanding this world IRL.” IRL? More like “I Really Lost my savings on Limited Edition Sets.”
According to LEGO, the additional sets scheduled to release next year “will expand the LEGO KPop Demon Hunters universe with new creative play opportunities.” Translation: “We’re going to sell you the same tiger in different poses until you’ve built an entire demon-hunting K-pop group that will slowly take over your living room.”
This LEGO partnership marks just the latest toy collaboration for KPop Demon Hunters. The franchise is also set to receive various toys, dolls, action figures, games, and other products from Mattel and Hasbro this year. At this point, they might as well release a KPop Demon Hunters branded toaster that burns the faces of the main characters onto your bread. Breakfast is served, demons!
KPop Demon Hunters is streaming now on Netflix. The film is nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Golden”) at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, scheduled to take place on March 15, 2026. Will it win? Who cares! By then, you’ll be too busy explaining to your friends why you spent your tax refund on a limited edition Derpy LEGO set that’s already selling for triple the price on eBay.
