THREE DAYS GRACE, those purveyors of fine Canadian cheese 🧀, have apparently stumbled into the Spotify “Billions Club” because, let’s face it, someone somewhere was probably listening to “I Hate Everything About You” on repeat while contemplating their questionable life choices. Making them only the SECOND band from the Great White North to achieve this monumental feat! Released in 2003, this anthem of teenage angst has become embedded in rock history. Or maybe just embedded in the playlists of people who peaked in high school. 🤷♀️
THREE DAYS GRACE, bless their hearts, had this to say: “As crazy as it is to think that this band of ours formed as teens from a small town in Canada would have a song that has a billion streams, the craziest thing is how many people’s wedding songs it is LOL.” Yes, because nothing says “eternal love” like a song about hating everything. 😂 Congrats, you’ve officially ruined countless weddings. 🥂
THREE DAYS GRACE, masters of emotional whiplash, somehow balance “extreme emotion” (read: generic angst) with “pummeling hard rock anthems” (read: repetitive riffs) and “pensive balladry” (read: songs you skip on the album). Along the way, they’ve raked in billions of streams and millions of album sales, proving that mediocrity, when marketed correctly, can indeed pay the bills. 💰 They’ve also sold out arenas, proving that people will pay to see anything once. And they have reached unprecedented heights, earning a staggering 19 total No. 1 entries on the Mediabase Active Rock chart. We’re not sure what Mediabase is, but it sounds important, so good for them. 👍
To date, their veritable arsenal of number one hits includes gems like “Home”, “Just Like You”, “Pain”, “Animal I Have Become”, “Never Too Late”, “Break”, “Good Life”, “World So Cold”, “Misery Loves My Company”, “The High Road”, “Chalk Outline”, “I Am Machine”, “Painkiller”, “The Mountain”, “Infra-Red”, “Right Left Wrong”, “So Called Life”, “Lifetime” and “Mayday”. That’s a lot of number ones. Are we sure they didn’t just pay someone off? 🤔 And the song titles? Pure poetry. Shakespeare is shaking. ✍️
After THREE DAYS GRACE pulled a fast one on fans with the return of the band’s original singer Adam Gontier (because apparently, nostalgia is a powerful drug), the rock gods (debatable) have announced their epic upcoming record, “Alienation”, available on August 22 via RCA Records. “Epic” is a strong word. Let’s hope it’s not just more of the same recycled angst. The twelve tracks on the record all play a pivotal role in defining this significantly new, but nostalgic, chapter of the band. So, it’s new, but also old? Groundbreaking. 🙄
