Oh Look, the Leftist Enforcers Are at It Again!
In a desperate attempt to thwart the will of President Trump, eight Democrat-controlled states have filed a frivolous lawsuit to block Nexstar’s acquisition of Tegna. Because nothing says “supporting local journalism” like keeping media consolidation in the hands of left-wing corporations!
California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta, fresh off his latest witch hunt against conservative media, claims this merger would “harm consumers” and reduce competition. Sure, Rob – just like how your state’s endless regulations have made California so affordable and business-friendly! The irony of a Democrat complaining about media consolidation is rich, considering how their party has dominated newsrooms for decades.
These same attorneys general who suddenly care about “local journalism” conveniently ignore how their party’s policies have gutted local news for years. But hey, when you’re losing control of the narrative, file a lawsuit! It’s the Democrat way.
The timing is especially suspicious given that President Trump himself endorsed the deal, saying it would help “knock out the Fake News” through increased competition. Naturally, the left can’t handle even the possibility of conservative voices gaining ground in media. They’d rather keep Americans in the dark than allow a balanced media landscape.
What’s really happening here is clear: the Democrat resistance is using taxpayer money to file politically motivated lawsuits against anything that might advance Trump’s America First agenda. They’re terrified that a stronger, more conservative-friendly Nexstar could challenge the left’s stranglehold on information. Too bad for them – Trump’s FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is ready to raise ownership caps and get this deal done, regardless of their obstructionist tactics.
Maybe instead of filing lawsuits, these attorneys general should focus on their states’ actual problems – like the California exodus or New York’s crime rates. But that would require actual governance rather than political theater. Sad!
