Get ready for a serious dose of Finnish metal, because CHILDREN OF BODOM is back… kind of. The band will co-headline the 2027 edition of the Tuska festival, set to take place July 2-4, 2027, in Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland. Because, you know, the world was just missing some melodic death metal in their lives. I mean, who needs world peace when you can have CHILDREN OF BODOM, right? 🤘
The festival will also feature other notable acts like LORNA SHORE, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, KANONENFIEBER, FOX LAKE, GAEREA, AVRALIZE, and SINIZTER. So, if you’re a metalhead, you might want to start planning your trip to Helsinki, because this is going to be a wild ride. And by wild ride, I mean a musical experience that will leave you questioning your life choices and wondering why you still listen to metal music at your age.
But seriously, the limited early crow three-day tickets for Tuska 2027 will go on sale on Monday, June 29 at 9:00 and will be available until Wednesday, July 1 at 23:59, or while supplies last. So, if you want to secure your spot, you’d better be ready to act fast, because these tickets will probably sell out quicker than a metalhead can say, “I’m not a poser, I just like the music.”
A Celebration of Music
This past February, members of CHILDREN OF BODOM played two shows celebrating the group’s music at the Tavastia club in Helsinki. The concerts, dubbed “Children Of Bodom – A Celebration Of Music,” featured original CHILDREN OF BODOM members, bassist Henkka Seppälä, keyboardist Janne Wirman, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, and early guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, along with longtime friend Samy Elbanna, known from the band LOST SOCIETY, paying tribute to CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist and main songwriter Alexi Laiho, who passed away on December 29, 2020.
I mean, can you imagine attending a concert where the band is playing all their classic hits, but the lead singer is no longer with us? It’s like going to a funeral, but with more face-melting guitar solos. Wirman said in an interview, “We’ve gotten some requests and we’ve said ‘no’ to everything. But then this one guy, who is now our booking agent, from Austria, Dominik, he contacted us and he was convincing enough.” Because, you know, all it takes is one convincing Austrian to get a metal band back together.
The Legacy Lives On
The official CHILDREN OF BODOM book was published in August 2025 via the London, U.K.-based publisher Rocket 88. The book tells the story of the Finnish melodic death metal pioneers as an oral history in which Seppälä, Wirman, Raatikainen, and Kuoppala plus other former members, their friends, and colleagues recall the 30-plus-year history of their career.
I’m not crying, you’re crying. The book must be a real tear-jerker, especially considering the struggles the band faced, including Laiho’s substance abuse issues and his eventual passing. But hey, at least the music lives on, and we can all still rock out to “Downfall” and “Hate Me!” like it’s 2003.
Janne Wirman said in an interview, “It was a very special event, and we knew that two nights was not gonna be enough kind of to feed the [fan interest].” Yeah, because who doesn’t want to see a band play the same songs multiple times? I mean, it’s not like the fans have better things to do, like laundry or taxes.
In conclusion, CHILDREN OF BODOM is back, and they’re going to bring the house down at Tuska 2027. Or, you know, they might just phone it in and collect a paycheck, because who needs to try hard when you’re a legacy band? 🤣 Either way, it’s going to be a wild ride, and I’m here for it. See you in Helsinki, folks! 🤘🎸🍻
