Folks, I’m sipping my morning coffee and reading about the latest drama in Washington, and let me tell you, it’s a doozy. President Trump is saying he wouldn’t mind withdrawing his nominee for attorney general, Todd Blanche, due to resistance from two Republican senators, John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina. I mean, I’ve seen some twists and turns in my time, but this one takes the cake.
So, Trump says he’d be okay with temporarily pulling Blanche’s name and then renominating him after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office. Because, you know, that’s exactly how you handle opposition – just wait for the people you don’t like to leave, and then you can do what you want. It’s like a game of political musical chairs.
Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts, saying, “I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office.” I’m not sure what’s more entertaining, the fact that he’s using Truth Social or the fact that he thinks this is a viable plan.
Cornyn, on the other hand, is having none of it. He shot back on X, saying, “POTUS is mistaken if he believes concerns about the provisions in his tax lawsuit settlement are limited to me and Senator Tillis.” Oh, snap! It’s like a battle of wits, folks, and I’m here for it.
Trump, of course, had to praise Blanche, calling him a “STAR” and saying he “has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time.” Because, you know, hyperbole is the best way to make a point. And then he unleashed some harsh criticism on Cornyn and Tillis, who have been refusing to back Blanche due to some controversial fund.
It’s all very dramatic, folks, with Trump saying things like, “John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee…” You can almost hear the soap opera music playing in the background.
As I finish my coffee, I have to wonder what’s going to happen next in this saga. Will Trump actually withdraw Blanche’s nomination? Will Cornyn and Tillis continue to defy him? Stay tuned, folks, it’s going to be a wild ride. And in the end, I’m just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show, because, as they say, “you can’t make this stuff up.”
