Oh boy, EA’s at it again! 🙄 They’ve graced us with the latest groundbreaking, totally-not-vague info about Battlefield 6 (or whatever overpriced name they slap on it). Brace yourselves, because this time they’re “updating” the class and weapon systems. You know, because that’s what we REALLY wanted after the last Battlefield dumpster fire 🔥. Seriously, are they even trying anymore? 🤔
EA, bless their clueless hearts 💖, has dropped some “surprising” details about the class systems in the Battlefield universe. Surprising as in, “Surprise! We’re changing things that nobody asked us to change!” 🤡 This article (written by yours truly, a professional hater 💪) will delve into what EA deigned to share with us, and what it could possibly mean for the future of players who still haven’t learned their lesson and pre-order this thing. 🤦♂️
What do We Know so Far? (Spoiler: Not Much)
The next Battlefield installment is going to be the “biggest yet,” according to EA’s marketing department. Translation: It’s going to have the most bugs, the most microtransactions, and the most broken promises 🤥. Four whole studios are working on it! DICE, Criterion, EA Motive, and Ripple Effect. That’s four times the manpower to screw it up! 🏆 And guess what? They let some “fans” play a beta version called Battlefield Labs. I’m sure that feedback was totally unbiased and not at all ignored. 🙈
A “major reveal” is coming in the summer of 2025! Mark your calendars, folks, because that’s when they’ll finally show us some actual gameplay footage… maybe. Or they’ll just release another cinematic trailer with zero connection to the final product. 🤷♂️
Battlefield Labs Community Update (AKA Damage Control)
In their infinite wisdom 🧠, EA released a “community update” claiming that the game will strike a balance between customizable and unchangeable “class-defining” elements. So, basically, they’re saying nothing at all. The goal is to let players switch between different playing styles and roles. Because, you know, forcing people into specific roles in a team-based shooter is SOOO last decade. 🙄
Battlefield 6 will graciously allow any player to use any weapon. How generous! But, BUT! Using weapons “suited” to your class will come with perks. In other words, they’re still trying to nudge you into specific roles, but with extra steps. 🎉 Each class will also have “unique gadgets” that are totally not interchangeable. So much for freedom, eh? 😜
What Classes are there? (The Usual Suspects)
At this point, we have the four horsemen of the predictable apocalypse:
Assault: The meatheads who run headfirst into danger and then complain when they die. 💀
Engineer: The guys who spend the entire match repairing vehicles while getting sniped from across the map. 🛠️
Support: The ammo mules who are constantly begged to drop boxes, only to be ignored when they need backup. 📦
Recon: The snipers who camp on rooftops and contribute absolutely nothing to the objective. 🏕️
A New Training System (Because We’re All Noobs, Apparently)
A new “training system” is being implemented because EA thinks we’re all too dumb to figure out how to point and shoot. Every class will have two “training paths” chosen from the loading menus. Because nothing says “immersive gameplay” like navigating a series of menus before you even spawn. 📜
Tweaking the Class System (AKA We Screwed Up, Again)
EA has bravely admitted that they need to “tweak” the class system. Translation: They realized their initial design was a complete train wreck. These “adjustments” are based on “suggestions and feedback” from players. I’m sure those suggestions were all polite and constructive. 😇
Professional Battlefield tournaments are apparently a thing, and they’re worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Who knew? EA certainly didn’t, until they realized they could milk that cow for even more cash 💸. Developing this game cost them $400 million. That’s $400 million to create another buggy, microtransaction-laden mess that will be abandoned within a year. 💰
What to Know About Battlefield 2042 (AKA What NOT to Do)
Battlefield 2042 is the latest installment, and it has a “cult-like following.” Cult-like as in, “We’re delusional enough to think this game is good.” It’s been a long time since a new installment, and everyone’s hyped for dissapointment! 🤡
Battlefield isn’t as prominent as other shooter games in eSports. No wonder. It’s too busy being a broken, unbalanced mess to be taken seriously. EA was hoping the new installment would change that. Good luck with that!🤞
Expansion of the eSports Scene (AKA How to Cash In)
eSports are a multi-billion-dollar industry, so EA wants a piece of that pie 🥧. Game developers are trying to cater to both amateur players and professional teams. Because nothing says “fair and balanced” like a game designed to appease both casuals and hardcore gamers. ⚖️
The new approach to classes will somehow make Battlefield Six better suited to competitive gaming. I’m sure it will. Just like loot boxes make games more “rewarding.” 🤡
