Well, folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. The World Cup is in full swing, and Team USA is taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina tonight. I’m not a huge soccer fan, but even I know that’s a big deal. And, of course, CNN is all over it, with their “Beautiful Game” newsletter and everything. Bless their hearts, they’re really trying to get me into soccer.
As I was reading through the article, I saw that NASA is planning to build a $30 billion moon base. That’s a lot of money, if you ask me. I mean, I know space exploration is important and all, but $30 billion? You can’t make this stuff up. I guess that’s what happens when you’re trying to dodge costly delays, though.
And then there’s the story about the two people who climbed the Empire State Building in New York City. I mean, what is wrong with people these days? Don’t they have anything better to do? Apparently, they unfurled a banner and even got engaged at the top. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and now it’s all over the news.
The article also mentions that drinking coffee might lower your risk for liver disease or liver cancer. Now that’s something I can get behind. I mean, who doesn’t love a good cup of joe? Even if you drink five or more a day, apparently. Although, I’m not sure if that’s really a good idea.
Oh, and Lizzo’s new album didn’t do so well, it seems. I’m not really surprised, though. I mean, have you heard her music? It’s not really my cup of tea. But hey, to each their own, right?
As I kept reading, I saw that Buckingham Palace is trying to get away from the whole “royal” thing. I guess they don’t want to live there anymore. Who can blame them, really? It’s not like it’s a normal house or anything.
And finally, there’s a quiz at the end of the article. Apparently, Victor Willis, the front man for the Village People, passed away at the age of 74. I had no idea who that was, but apparently, he co-wrote some of their biggest hits, including “YMCA” and “In the Navy”. Yeah, I can see why that would be a big deal.
In conclusion, today’s edition of 5 Things PM was a wild ride, folks. From soccer to space exploration to crazy people climbing buildings, there’s something for everyone. And hey, if you’re a coffee lover like me, you might even learn something new. So, until next time, stay caffeinated and keep on reading. And remember, if you’re going to climb a building, at least make sure you have a good reason.
