KINGDOM COME somehow still exists and is playing Ohio

Breaking News: KINGDOM COME Still Exists, And They’re Still Playing Shows 🤯! I mean, who wouldn’t want to see a band that’s been around since the 80s, with a new lead singer, playing all their classic hits? It’s not like we have better things to do, like watching paint dry or waiting for a new Tool album 🙄. The current lineup, featuring original guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, and bassist Johnny B. Frank, along with the band’s latest additions, vocalist Ezekiel “Zeke” Kaplan and drummer Matt Muckle, performed on July 9 at Westside Bowl in Youngstown, Ohio. Because, you know, the world was just missing a KINGDOM COME show in Youngstown, Ohio 🤣.

So, Zeke Kaplan, the new lead singer, spoke to Big Talk Nation back in September 2024 about how he landed the gig. He said it was all thanks to a mutual friend who knew the KINGDOM COME guys, and they were looking for a new vocalist. Kaplan had to learn “Get It On” on the spot, and the rest, as they say, is history 🎸. I mean, who wouldn’t want to join a band with a rich history of… well, existing? Kaplan also mentioned that he was familiar with KINGDOM COME from working at record stores, and he thought their music was “really, really cool, original classic rock-sounding stuff” 😎.

The New Lineup: A Breath of Fresh Air? 🌟

The new lineup of KINGDOM COME played its first two shows on March 15, 2024, at The Lamp Theater in Irwin, Pennsylvania, and on March 16, 2024, at The Mercury Music Lounge in Lakewood, Ohio. Because, you know, the world was just waiting with bated breath for KINGDOM COME to return to the stage 🤣. Kaplan said he’s had great feedback from fans, with some even saying that this is the best the band has sounded since the “olden days” with Lenny Wolf 🙄. I mean, who needs Lenny Wolf when you have Zeke Kaplan, right? 🤷‍♂️

Regarding the response from KINGDOM COME fans to his first two gigs with the band, Kaplan said: “I have had really, really great feedback. I’m very happy with the feedback. There’s been a lot of YouTube videos on the return of KINGDOM COME. And I’ve been reached out to a lot saying that this is the best that the band has sounded since the olden days with Lenny. So, certainly, it’s a good ego boost.” 🙃

New Music: Because We’ve All Been Waiting For This 🎶

Kaplan also mentioned that the band has been working on new music, although they haven’t released anything yet 🤫. Because, you know, the world is just missing a new KINGDOM COME album 🙄. He said they’ve been reworking some old songs that Danny Stag and J.B. Frank wrote back in the day, and they’re trying to give them a more modern sound 🎸. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hear a modern take on KINGDOM COME’s classic sound? 🤷‍♂️

Matt Muckle, the band’s new drummer, had some nice things to say about Zeke Kaplan in a February 2024 interview with “The Pennsylvania Rock Show”. He said Kaplan is “amazing” and that he’s like a mix between John Corabi and Tom Keifer 🤯. Because, you know, those are the only two vocalists that matter 🙄. Muckle also said that no one will ever replace Lenny Wolf, but Kaplan is “killing it” 🙃.

In conclusion, KINGDOM COME is still a thing, and they’re still playing shows 🤣. If you’re a fan of the band, or just a fan of watching paint dry, then you should totally check them out 🎟️. And who knows, maybe they’ll even release some new music that will change the world 🌎. But probably not 🙅‍♂️.
