Folks, I’m sitting here with my coffee, reading about Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin’s latest move, and I’ve got to say, it’s a doozy. He’s launching an investigation into whether Jeffrey Epstein was an unregistered foreign agent for multiple countries, and I’m thinking, “Okay, this should be interesting.” Raskin is requesting records from the Trump administration on Epstein’s foreign ties, which, let’s be real, might not be the easiest thing to get, considering the Republican-controlled House. But hey, it’s worth a shot, right?
I mean, Raskin’s demands to the Department of Justice, Department of State, and intelligence community are likely to go unanswered, but this is all just a preview of how Democrats will pursue investigations if they reclaim the House majority in the next Congress. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, we’re going to keep digging, and we’re going to find out what’s really going on here.” And, honestly, I’m a little curious to see what they’ll turn up.
So, Raskin’s found some “substantial evidence” that Epstein was working to advance the interests of the Saudi Arabian and Kuwaiti governments, advised the Russian government, and worked as a consultant for a former Israeli prime minister. That’s quite a list, if you ask me. And, of course, there are concerns about the potential security risks Epstein’s foreign ties posed, given that he was never registered as a foreign agent. It’s like, “Come on, guys, how did this slip through the cracks?”
Raskin’s letter is pretty straightforward, saying that “Our examination of available evidence has already revealed damning indications of Mr. Epstein’s activities on behalf of foreign states.” I mean, it sounds like they’ve got some pretty solid evidence, but I’m sure there’s more to the story. And, of course, CNN has reached out for comment to the Justice Department, the State Department, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, because that’s what they do.
But here’s the thing: Raskin believes there could be even more information about Epstein’s foreign ties within the approximately 2.5 million documents that the Justice Department has not released related to Epstein. That’s a lot of documents, folks. And he’s requesting any records related to Epstein’s interactions with foreign officials, which could be a real treasure trove of information. I mean, who knows what they’ll find?
Raskin’s also calling on the DOJ to provide a written response to address if there has ever been an investigation into whether Epstein acted as a foreign agent. It’s like, “Hey, guys, did you ever look into this?” And, of course, he’s pointing out that Epstein never registered as a foreign agent, despite having all these contacts with foreign governments. It’s a pretty valid question, if you ask me.
In conclusion, this whole thing is a bit of a mess, but I’m sure it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. Raskin’s investigation might not turn up anything, but it’s definitely worth a shot. And who knows, maybe we’ll finally get some answers about Jeffrey Epstein’s shady dealings. As I always say, “You can’t make this stuff up,” but I’m sure they’ll try. Anyway, that’s my two cents on the matter, and I’m sticking to it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to refill my coffee cup. 🙄
