Oh boy, are you guys ready for some “new” music from a band that’s been around longer than some of you have been alive? 🙄 Finnish goth rock veterans THE 69 EYES have just released a new single, “Brandon Lee (Forma Acustica)”, because who doesn’t love a good acoustic version of a 20-year-old song? 😴 The song was originally featured on their fifth studio album, “Blessed Be”, back in 2000, and I’m sure it’s just as exciting now as it was then. The title, of course, refers to the late American actor Brandon Lee, who played the lead role in the dark cult classic “The Crow” (1993). Because, you know, that’s not a reference that’s been done to death already. 💀
So, the “Brandon Lee (Forma Acustica)” single was mixed by acclaimed American producer Matt Hyde, who’s worked with some big names like SLAYER and DEFTONES. I mean, who hasn’t, right? 🤣 Hyde also produced THE 69 EYES’ “Back In Blood” album back in 2009, because that’s not a conflict of interest or anything. The music video for the single was filmed at Suomenlinna, Helsinki, and directed by Elias Ryynänen, featuring paparazzi models Corinna Puleo and Lotte Vainio, because, you know, goth rock isn’t complete without some fancy models, right? 🤑
The 69 Eyes: Still Going Strong After All These Years
I mean, it’s not like THE 69 EYES are just rehashing old material or anything. They’re actually working on a new acoustic record, set for release early 2027, because that’s exactly what the world needs – more acoustic music. 🙄 The band will also be bringing their melodic side on tour in February next year, with a nationwide concert hall tour across Finland, because who doesn’t love a good road trip to Finland in the middle of winter? ❄️ THE 69 EYES vocalist Jyrki 69 states: “We’ve been touring nonstop around the world for the past three or four years. I checked the numbers this summer and realized that we had played 89 shows in 22 countries within a single year. Rock ‘n’ roll is at its best live, but now it’s time to shift gears. An acoustic concert hall tour feels exactly right for this moment.”
Because, you know, THE 69 EYES are just that cool. They’ve been around since 1989, and they’re still going strong with the same lineup, which is just impressive, I guess. They’ve released thirteen albums, reached gold and platinum status in their native Finland, and have been touring nonstop for the last twenty years. I mean, who needs a social life, right? 🤷♂️ Their biggest hit, “Lost Boys”, from 2005, is still a staple on annual Halloween rock playlists, because that’s not a played-out reference at all. 🎃
What’s Next for The 69 Eyes?
So, what can we expect from THE 69 EYES in the future? More acoustic music, probably.
