Oh, sweet merciful crap, they’re actually making a “Happy Gilmore 2.” 🙄 After 30 years of Adam Sandler’s cinematic genius (and by genius, I mean movies you watch when you’re too hungover to move), we’re getting a sequel to the film that launched a thousand angry putts. Prepare yourselves, folks, because Netflix is about to unleash another Sandler-sized turd 💩 upon the unsuspecting masses.

Adam Sandler’s “iconic” movie (and by iconic, I mean the one people vaguely remember liking when they were 12) about a hockey-player-turned-golfer is, allegedly, his most popular. For years, delusional fans have been clamoring for a sequel, probably because they haven’t seen a decent movie since 1996. Their dream (nightmare?) will become a reality in the summer, when “Happy Gilmore 2” graces (defaces?) Netflix.

Most of the original cast members are crawling out of whatever holes they’ve been hiding in for the past three decades, and apparently, a bunch of celebrity athletes are also getting in on this train wreck. As a result, it will be one of the most overhyped and ultimately disappointing movies of the summer. 🍿

Here’s everything you need to know about “Happy Gilmore 2,” because why not? Let’s all suffer together. 🤪

JUMP TO: Release date | Trailer | Cast | Confirmed cameos

Happy Gilmore 2 release date

  • July 25, 2025

Happy Gilmore 2 is set to be released on July 25, 2025, on Netflix. Mark your calendars, folks, because you definitely won’t want to be doing anything else that day. Like, say, getting a root canal. 🦷

Latest Happy Gilmore 2 trailer

The first Happy Gilmore 2 trailer was unleashed in March, revealing many of the returning characters and new celebrity cameos. Get ready for a nostalgia bomb that smells suspiciously of desperation. 💣

Happy Gilmore 2 cast

  • Adam Sandler
  • Julie Bowen
  • Christopher MacDonald
  • Ben Stiller

Here’s a deeper look at the confirmed and expected cast for Happy Gilmore 2, because you have nothing better to do with your time, apparently:

Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore

Sandler is, of course, reprising his role as Gilmore, the titular character who goes from hockey flameout to golf “sensation.” I use the term sensation loosely, as in, “this movie is causing me a mild sensation of nausea.” 🤢

Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit

Bowen played Sandler’s love interest in the first movie, as Venit met Gilmore as the tour’s PR director before they got together at the end of the movie. Because apparently, even in the world of terrible golf movies, love can bloom. 💖

Christopher MacDonald as Shooter McGavin

McGavin is one of the most “iconic” villains in sports movie history, as the best professional golfer competing against Gilmore on tour. He will be returning to the sequel in a highly-anticipated reprisal. I mean, who *wouldn’t* want to see more of that guy? 🙄

The fictional character even has an account on X with almost 650,000 followers. Because, you know, that’s a normal thing to do. 🐦

Ben Stiller as Hal L.

One of Stiller’s most underrated roles is as Hal, the abusive orderly taking care of Gilmore’s grandmother, and he will also return in some fashion. Get ready for more casual ableism, folks! 🎉

Some other actors who are confirmed to appear in the movie include:

  • Margaret Qualley
  • Nick Swardson
  • Ethan Cutkosky
  • Benny Safdie

MORE: How many majors has Bryson DeChambeau won? Who cares? 🤷‍♀️

Is Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore 2?

Christopher MacDonald is set to reprise his role as Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore 2, meaning the rivalry between Gilmore and McGavin is apparently alive and well. Or, you know, just being dragged out of its grave for one last cash grab. 💰

Who will play Chubbs in Happy Gilmore 2?

Carl Weathers played Chubbs Peterson in the original movie, but Weathers sadly passed away in February of 2024. However, the sequel reportedly honored Weathers in some fashion. It’s unlikely that Chubbs will be played by another actor. Because recasting a beloved character after the original actor dies is *never* a good idea. 💀

Sadly, even the alligator that cost the Chubbs character his hand, passed away earlier in May. The 640-pound reptile called Morris, was 9-feet long and estimated to be between 80-90 years old.  RIP Morris 🐊

MORE: Everything you need to know about the Masters Green Jacket. Because golf is boring enough already. 😴

Is Julie Bowen back for Happy Gilmore 2?

Julie Bowen is also back for the Happy Gilmore sequel, as she will once again play Virginia Venit in the movie. Bowen was relatively unknown before appearing in the original film but has since risen to stardom after the smashing success of the television show “Modern Family”. Because apparently, even terrible movies can be a stepping stone to success. 🤷‍♀️

Bowen recently appeared on The Today Show to talk about the upcoming sequel. Because what better way to promote a terrible movie than to subject the Today Show audience to it? 🤮

MORE: Breaking down Scottie Scheffler’s majors history. Still more interesting than this movie. 😴

Celebrity cameos in Happy Gilmore 2

Happy Gilmore 2 is set to have a bunch of celebrity cameos, as many famous athletes signed on to appear in the movie. Because nothing says “quality cinema” like a bunch of athletes awkwardly trying to act. 🎭

Here’s a list of some of the confirmed golfer cameos:

  • Jack Nicklaus
  • Rory McIlroy
  • Scottie Scheffler
  • Bryson DeChambeau
  • Brooks Koepka
  • Collin Morikawa
  • Xander Schauffle
  • Rickie Fowler
  • Tony Finau
  • Jordan Speith
  • Justin Thomas
  • Keegan Bradley
  • John Daly
  • Paige Spiranic

Additionally, the celebrity cameos go beyond golfers, as other athletes and celebrities will be making an appearance including:

  • Bad Bunny
  • Eminem
  • Reggie Bush
  • Travis Kelce
  • Dan Patrick
  • Becky Lynch
  • MJF
  • Kid Cudi

MORE: What does it take to play at Augusta National, home of the Masters? Probably more than it takes to enjoy this movie. 🤦‍♀️

What year did the original Happy Gilmore come out?

Happy Gilmore originally came out in 1996 and was Adam Sandler’s follow up to Billy Madison, as the two movies were his first big successes in the movie industry. Ah yes, the good old days, when we had lower standards. 👴

Take a look back at the trailer for the original film.  Nostalgia: it’s a hell of a drug. 💊
