Netflix Vomits Out Another “Best” Animated Movie (Yeah, Right)

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS

Okay, so apparently it’s been a real snoozefest for animated movies this year 😴. I mean, who even cares about those “indie gems” like the Looney Tunes movie (because who asked for that? 🙄) or some obscure Chinese blockbuster that nobody outside of China has ever heard of? Seriously, are we scraping the bottom of the barrel here? 🗑️

Then there’s Dog Man. Oh, wow, a movie that made a whopping $145 million. Groundbreaking! 🙄 Still, it’s no Shrek, because what is? Let’s be real, everything is measured against Shrek these days. Dog Man couldn’t even sniff Shrek’s swampy success. 🐸

And who could forget Elio? Disney and Pixar’s attempt to bore us to death with a sci-fi adventure that nobody wanted. It bombed so hard it’s probably still echoing in the empty theaters. 🤣 Positive reviews? Who cares! The people have spoken: We want more sequels, not original ideas! 🙅‍♀️

But wait, there’s hope! 🌟 Netflix, in their infinite wisdom, has bestowed upon us KPop Demon Hunters.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, when I first saw the title, I rolled my eyes so hard I think I saw my brain. 🙄 K-pop? Really? Is that all we’re doing now? Capitalizing on trends? But then I saw the 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, and I was like, “Okay, maybe there’s something here.” Or maybe the critics were paid off. Who knows? 🤔

And the TikTok videos! Oh, the TikTok videos! They convinced me to watch it. I mean, if a bunch of Gen Z-ers are dancing to it, it must be good, right? 🤷‍♀️ And the soundtrack hit No. 6 on Spotify? Clearly, this is the musical masterpiece of our time. 🎶

So, the movie is about a K-pop girl group who are also demon hunters. By day, they’re singing and dancing; by night, they’re kicking demon butt. It’s like Buffy the Vampire Slayer but with more glitter and synchronized dance moves. ✨

The animation is apparently “bursting with color” and “full of sparks.” It’s like they took Turning Red and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, threw them in a blender, and added a dash of K-pop. Sounds… interesting? 🍹

The movie also explores the “power of friendship” and “self-worth.” Because apparently, we need animated movies to tell us that friendship is important. Groundbreaking stuff, people! 🤯 And there’s a villain with a “heart-rending subplot” about forgiveness. Get ready for the waterworks! 😭

But the best part is that it pokes fun at the K-pop industry. Because nothing is funnier than making fun of something that’s already ridiculous. 😂

Apparently, the music is “catchy as hell.” Which means it’s probably going to be stuck in my head for the next six months. Thanks, Netflix! 😒

So, according to this article, KPop Demon Hunters is one of the best animated movies of 2025. Which says more about the state of animated movies in 2025 than it does about the actual quality of the film. 🤷‍♀️

But hey, at least it’s something to watch while we wait for The Bad Guys 2 and Zootopia 2. Because sequels are always better than original movies, right? 🙄

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go buy a light stick. Because apparently, that’s what you do when you stan a K-pop group. 🌟
