Oh, no they didn’t! ๐ฑ Looks like someone at The Wall Street Journal decided to stir the pot ๐ฒ by claiming Disney is dragging its cartoon feet ๐พ on the upcoming Fortnite “Disney Mode.” Apparently, some unnamed, probably disgruntled, Epic employee ๐ฆนโโ๏ธ snitched that Disney’s “slow decision-making” was the culprit. But hold on to your Mickey Mouse ears ๐ญ, because Tim Sweeney himself has entered the chat ๐ฌ to drop some truth bombs ๐ฃ.
This week, the oh-so-reputable Wall Street Journal (because everything they say is 100% facts, right? ๐) published a report alleging that the glacial pace ๐ of the much-anticipated Disney Mode in Fortnite was all Mickey’s fault ๐คก. Yeah, you heard that right. According to their “anonymous source” (who probably just wants a raise ๐ฐ), Disney’s endless bureaucratic hurdles were the reason we won’t be flossing with Donald Duck until, like, the next ice age ๐ง.
The original report claimed the magical โจ Disney Mode wouldn’t see the light of day until “fall 2026 at the earliest.” Can you even imagine waiting that long to unleash your inner Elsa on unsuspecting noobs? ๐ฅถ Some “frustrated” Epic execs (probably the ones who keep losing to 12-year-olds ๐ฎ) whined that “the slow pace of the decision-making at Disney, with signoffs needed from so many different divisions,” was the root of all evil ๐.
But fear not, young Padawans! ๐ง Tim Sweeney, the benevolent overlord of Epic Games, has swooped in to defend the honor of the House of Mouse ๐ฐ. In a blistering attack ๐ฅ on his X account (formerly known as that other thing ๐ฆ), he called the report “BS.” Yeah, you tell ’em, Tim! ๐ฃ๏ธ In response to a Fortnite collaborator (aka someone who gets free V-Bucks ๐ค), Sweeney declared, “The speed of Disney and Epic collaborations like Darth Vader has been awesome and is around 10 times the ordinary speed of media company dealings in this business.” So, basically, Disney is Usain Bolt ๐โโ๏ธ compared to other media giants. He even claimed he gave a statement to the reporter, but they were too busy sipping tea โ with their anonymous source to actually use it. Fake news, people! ๐จ
Let’s not forget that Disney threw a cool $1.5 billion ๐ฐ at Epic Games back in 2024 to get a piece of the Fortnite pie ๐. That deal was basically a green light ๐ฆ for the upcoming Disney x Fortnite extravaganza. Disney Mode is just one shiny โจ project in this multi-billion dollar partnership.
As of now, the Wall Street Journal hasn’t responded to Sweeney’s epic clapback ๐. But you know this isn’t over. We’re expecting a full-blown Twitter war โ๏ธ any minute now. Stay tuned for more drama, folks! This is better than any reality TV show ๐บ.๐ฟ
