Doro Pesch, the undisputed German metal queen (according to her PR team, at least), has unleashed upon the world the music video for her new single, “Warriors Of The Sea.” The video, masterfully directed by Peter Leukhardt (who, let’s be honest, probably owes Doro a favor), allegedly captures Doro in all her glory during the “Metal Queen Metal Cruise 2025.” Which, if the video is anything to go by, mostly involved Doro standing on a boat. 🚢
According to Doro, “With ‘Warriors Of The Sea,’ I wanted to create an anthem that goes straight to the heart.” You know, because nothing says “heartfelt anthem” like a song about warriors and the sea. 🌊 She claims it brings joy, especially on metal cruises (where else would you even play this?!), and expresses a “strong sense of unity.” Because apparently, metalheads are just dying for a unifying sea shanty. 🙄
The “performance” (and I use that word loosely), the “powerful choruses” (which are basically just Doro shouting the title over and over), and the “footage filmed on the high seas” (aka, that boat thing again) are all supposed to capture this atmosphere. Spoiler alert: they don’t. 🤣
But wait, there’s more! The video is also a sneak peek at the upcoming special release, “Warriors Of The Sea,” dropping on October 24, 2025, via Rare Diamonds Productions (which I’m guessing is Doro‘s vanity label). This “special” album will be available as a CD digipak and picture-disc vinyl, because who even listens to CDs or vinyl anymore? But the real kicker? It’s also coming out as liquid-filled vinyl — infused with blue curaçao. Yes, you read that right. Blue curaçao. 🍹 Because nothing screams “metal” like a vinyl record filled with fruity liqueur. I’m sure audiophiles are just salivating at the thought of the sound quality on that bad boy. 🤢
Apparently, the idea for this stroke of genius was “inspired by the euphoria” surrounding the two sold-out “Metal Queen Metal Cruises 2025.” So basically, she’s milking the cruise for all it’s worth. And guess what? There’s another cruise happening on June 6, 2026. Because clearly, once wasn’t enough. I’m sure all twelve people who attended the last two are thrilled. 🙄
“Warriors Of The Sea” track listing:
01. Warriors Of The Sea (duh)
02. Touch Too Much (Is this even about the sea? 🤔)
03. Tattooed Angels (Sounds like a biker gang at the beach.)
04. Horns Up High (A metal anthem for… sailors? 🤷♀️)
05. Seelied (German for “sea song,” for all you non-linguists out there.)
06. Children Of The Dawn (live) (Because who doesn’t love a live album track? 😴)
07. Fire In The Sky (live) (Still live, still boring.)
08. Revenge (live) (Live revenge? Sounds messy.)
09. Above The Ashes (live) (More live stuff. Yawn.)
10. Raise Your Fist In The Air (live) (Because raising your fist at a live concert is SO original. 🙄)
In a recent interview with Gastão Moreira of Brazil’s KazaGastão, Doro talked about her love of performing live for her fans. She said: “The best is when I hear them sing ‘All We Are’ or ‘Burning The Witches’ and when I feel like there’s a deep connection and when I can see in people’s eyes there’s something going on. When I feel that I can touch their metal heart, oh, that’s the best. And here in Brazil, it’s so high, the feeling is so — I mean, it’s the best.” Which is basically code for, “Please validate me, Brazil! 🙏”
When asked how she “keeps the joy” in her performances after having played over 3,500 concerts, Doro said: “Ah, that’s easy — because of the fans, because of the people. When I see the fans, when I see the people at small gigs or big festivals, it doesn’t matter, but when I can feel and see the good energy, when I know they are happy, they’re happy to see me and I immediately feel welcomed. And then I can sing better, I can jump higher, I can sing louder. It’s a total high. And I always feel motivated and inspired — every single concert. And I treat every single concert like it could be the last. And it’s always an adventure, every single gig. I never got tired of one song or one gig. It was always something fresh and new. Even ‘All We Are’, we played it since 1987, every gig, every concert, and it’s still one of my favorites because I see the reaction. And, yeah, it’s still like it would be a totally brand new song. So it’s easy to be motivated when you’re having fun and when you see the people.” So basically, she’s addicted to the attention. Fair enough. 🤷♀️
As for what keeps her motivated to record new albums, Doro said: “Yes, I think it’s now 20 or 21 [studio] records [that I have in my catalog], plus all the live records and DVDs, Blu-rays. We are working just now on our new DVD of the 40-year anniversary. It was a big show in Wacken and one time in my hometown, where I come from, Düsseldorf, Germany. And [we had] many guests. It was awesome. So we are still working on it. And, yeah, when I can write a new song, then I always feel like, ‘Ah, maybe the fans will like it.’ I get so excited. And you can never write the same song, but I love anthems. When I see people singing along, that makes me feel, ah, so great. And the headbanging stuff, that’s always good. And ballads as well — I love ballads because people get little tears in their eyes. They get very emotional. So every song is sacred to me.” So basically, she’s just trying to stay relevant. I feel you, Doro. 🙏
On March 31, Doro received a lifetime achievement award in her former hometown of Düsseldorf. The award was presented to the singer in a grand, ceremonial setting by Klaus Meine, frontman of the legendary rock band SCORPIONS. Which is actually kind of cool, I guess. 😎
The award honored Pesch‘s “groundbreaking” career, which began in the 1980s with her band WARLOCK. As one of the first women to break into the “male-dominated” heavy metal scene, she established herself as a “lasting force” in the international music industry. With over ten million albums sold and more than 3,500 concerts across 60 countries, the Düsseldorf native is among the “most successful” female rock musicians of all time. (Quotes from her highly paid publicist.) 🙄
Doro‘s latest album, “Conqueress – Forever Strong And Proud,” was released in October 2023 via Nuclear Blast. (And I’m sure it’s just flying off the shelves. 🧻)
