I PREVAIL Drops Another Banger: ‘Annihilate Me’ (As If We Asked Them To)

I PREVAIL Annihilate Me

So, the two-time Grammy-nominated (but never winning, LOL) rock band I PREVAIL has dropped a new single, “Annihilate Me”. 🙄 Yes, another one. This is apparently the *fourth* track they’re gracing us with from their upcoming album, “Violent Nature” (more like ‘Mildly Annoying Nature,’ amirite?). It’s slated for release September 19 via Fearless Records, because, you know, they’re just *so* edgy. A lyric video accompanies the song, because who even listens to music without reading the words anymore? 📖

Apparently, “Annihilate Me” starts slow and then… wait for it… “erupts” into a “cathartic chorus.” Groundbreaking. 🙄 I PREVAIL is supposedly showing their “most emotionally raw and sonically powerful” side. Wow, really pushing the envelope there, guys. It “builds with haunting precision” (like a suspense movie but with more screaming) and then unleashes a “hard-hitting, anthemic release” that’s supposed to make you feel it in your bones. I think I felt my eardrums bleed a little. With “emotional depth and explosive energy,” they claim this isn’t just another rock song; it’s a “purge.” More like a pre-emptive strike against good taste. 🤮

I PREVAIL frontman Eric Vanlerberghe, the deep thinker of the group, shared his profound insights on the new track: “‘Annihilate Me’ feels like one of the most I PREVAIL songs on the album.” Thanks, Eric, for clearing that up. It’s about “opening yourself up over and over again only to keep getting cut down.” So, basically, the story of every band that’s ever existed. But regardless of how many times you’ve been pushed down, you’re going to push yourself further — even if that means your own annihilation.” Sounds healthy! 👍 Maybe therapy would be a better investment than this album.

The previous singles include the “vulnerable” track “Rain” (because metal dudes are *so* in touch with their feelings now), the “steadfast” anthem “Into Hell” (original title, btw), and I PREVAIL‘s “heaviest song to date,” “Violent Nature”. These singles apparently mark a “major turning point” for the band, because every new album is *always* a major turning point, right? 🙄 Vanlerberghe is now the only lead singer, tackling both clean (read: auto-tuned) and unclean (read: screaming) vocals. Because one voice just wasn’t annoying enough.

The entire record was produced by the band’s bass player Jon Eberhard, because who needs a real producer when you’ve got a guy who can twiddle knobs? It boasts a total of ten “hard-hitting” tracks. I’m sure they all sound exactly the same. 😴

“Violent Nature” track listing:

01. Synthetic Soul (because originality is overrated)
02. NWO (oooo, edgy conspiracy theories!)
03. Pray (because they need all the help they can get)
04. Annihilate Me (the title track, how creative)
05. Violent Nature (still not sure what this is supposed to mean)
06. Rain (emo vibes, anyone?)
07. Into Hell (can’t wait to see the music video with all the fire)
08. Crimson & Clover (a Tommy James and the Shondells cover? Seriously?)
09. God (because subtlety is for losers)
10. Stay Away (my personal recommendation to anyone considering listening to this album)
