P.O.D. Butchers THE BEATLES’ ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ in Denver, World Cries

OMG! 😱 The legendary (debatable) FirstRowConcert channel on YouTube, known for its impeccable (questionable) audio quality and stunning (blurry) visuals, has graced us with a video of San Diego hard-rock/nu metal (still clinging to the early 2000s) veterans P.O.D. performing their… *ahem*… unique cover of THE BEATLES classic “Don’t Let Me Down”. Yes, you read that right. P.O.D. covering THE BEATLES. It’s like putting ketchup on a gourmet steak. They were opening for SEETHER and DAUGHTRY at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado on November 1. Lucky Denver! (Or not?) You can watch the clip below, if you dare. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 🙈

So, apparently, P.O.D. actually *recorded* a studio version of this… thing… and released it in late September. 🤦‍♂️P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel, bless his heart, said this about their decision to butcher— I mean, *cover*— THE BEATLES: “As cliché as it may sound (spoiler alert: it REALLY does sound cliché), we’ve always admired THE BEATLES.” Oh, really? 🙄 So that’s why you decided to turn their timeless masterpiece into something that sounds like it belongs in a low-budget action movie soundtrack? He goes on, “Their melodies, the hooks, and fearless experimentation inspired us to craft our own take on the classic ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, with nothing but the utmost respect.” Respect? *RESPECT?!* 😂 I think THE BEATLES are rolling in their graves right now. He finishes with, “Thank you for helping lay the foundation of what we all know today as rock ‘n’ roll, pop and metal.” Yeah, because everyone knows P.O.D. is the epitome of “metal” these days. 😂

And get this, folks! P.O.D. went on a fall 2025 North America tour with DAUGHTRY and SEETHER. Curiel gushed, “Touring is a gift, a blessing to share P.O.D.‘s music live with the world.” A gift? More like a curse to anyone with functioning ears. 🤮 “Absolutely nothing compares to the energy of a crowd feeling and vibing every note.” I’m pretty sure most of the “vibing” was just people trying to figure out what went wrong with their lives to end up at a P.O.D. concert in 2025. “We’re ecstatic to join an amazing lineup that embodies the true essence of rock ‘n’ roll fusing the familiar with the new — a real evolution.” An evolution into what, exactly? A time warp back to 2003? 🤔 “We are proud to be part of it. Let’s jam, let’s sing, let’s rock.” Let’s not. Please, for the love of music, let’s just not. 🙏

The tour apparently kicked off October 1 in Virginia Beach and went through mid-November, hitting major cities across the U.S. I feel sorry for those cities. 😞

But wait, there’s more! Before this tour of terror, P.O.D. joined U.S. hard rockers GODSMACK as “special guests” on their March/April 2025 European tour. I can only imagine the confusion and disappointment of European audiences expecting something, anything, better. The tour started on March 22 in Bulgaria and made its way through Romania, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, U.K., and Belgium. I hope they at least got some decent beer to make up for the sonic assault. 🍻

And if you thought it couldn’t get worse, in May last year, P.O.D. released their 11th album, “Veritas”, via Mascot Records. Eleven albums? Seriously? 🤯 The album was a “Top 10 hit” on some obscure Billboard charts. 🙄 And it has “surpassed 48 million streams.” Probably because people accidentally clicked on it while trying to find real music. 🎧

Of course, P.O.D. released several singles from the album, including “Drop”, “Afraid To Die”, “I Got That” and “I Won’t Bow Down”. More like, “I Can’t Believe This Is Still Happening.” 🤦‍♀️

“Drop” features a “vicious vocal feature” from LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe. Vicious is one word for it. I have others, but I’ll refrain. 😇 While “Afraid To Die” features JINJER vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk. Maybe they should be afraid of being associated with this. 😬

In addition to releasing “Veritas”, P.O.D. has toured with SKINDRED, who apparently brought the party. A party I definitely wasn’t invited to, nor would I want to be. They “bulldozed through Europe” with festival sets and supported MUDVAYNE, took on their U.S. “I Got That” headline tour with special guests BAD WOLVES and NORMA JEAN, and made waves on the ShipRocked cruise. They even toured Latin America, playing Knotfest and headline shows in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico. Clearly, there are some people out there who still haven’t heard of THE BEATLES. 🤣
