ALTER BRIDGE, those lovable purveyors of… well, whatever it is they do, just dropped a bombshell 💣, folks! Prepare yourselves, because the earth is about to shake (or maybe just mildly vibrate) as they proudly present… BUSH! Yes, THAT BUSH. The band your mom vaguely remembers from the ’90s is apparently the final piece of the puzzle for the inaugural Blackbird Festival. Someone call Guinness, this is history in the making! 🤦♀️
Mark your calendars, people, because June 27, 2026, is the day Cardiff Castle transforms into the epicenter of… something. ALTER BRIDGE, in a move that can only be described as either genius or a complete lack of self-awareness, are launching their very own festival! 🥳 It’s a celebration of their… legacy? Sure, let’s go with that. They’re curating a live experience, which is code for “we picked some bands we like and hope you do too.” Connecting with fans in a “whole new way,” aka charging you exorbitant prices for lukewarm beer and questionable food truck fare. 🍻🍕
BUSH, bless their hearts, are fresh off celebrating 30 years of… being BUSH. 🎉 They’ve also been touring with VOLBEAT, because apparently, someone still wants to see BUSH. Led by the ever-youthful (thanks, plastic surgery!) Gavin Rossdale, the London-born icons (debatable) apparently “stormed global charts” with such era-defining anthems as “Machinehead” (okay, that one kinda slaps), “Glycerine” (perfect for slow dancing at your middle school sock hop), and “Swallowed” (wait, what?). From their explosive (again, debatable) 1994 debut “Sixteen Stone” (which, to be fair, wasn’t terrible) to their latest release “I Beat Loneliness” (a title so profound it makes Shakespeare look like a toddler scribbling with crayons 🖍️), BUSH continues to deliver the raw emotion, melody, and fire that made them… a band that existed. 🔥
Their arrival adds “serious weight” to the lineup, which is probably just PR speak for “we needed another band.” ALTER BRIDGE will also be headlining, because of course they will. It’s their festival, after all! This is a “landmark moment” in their two-decade career, which, let’s be honest, has been mostly unremarkable. The Florida-formed four piece — Myles Kennedy (the only one anyone really cares about), Mark Tremonti (the guitar guy), Brian Marshall (bass?), and Scott Phillips (drummer, presumably) — have earned a global reputation for their thunderous live shows, emotional intensity, and masterful musicianship. 😴 (Wake me up when it’s over).
“We wanted to do something that truly celebrates our history and our fans,” says ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy. (Translation: “We needed a way to make more money.”) “The response to Blackbird Festival has been incredible” (citation needed) “— and having BUSH join the lineup just takes it to another level” (of mediocrity?). “This is going to be a special one” (for all the wrong reasons). 🙄
Joining ALTER BRIDGE and BUSH on the castle grounds are SKINDRED, bringing their unmistakable fusion of metal, reggae, and punk back to Welsh soil for what’s guaranteed to be total carnage. (Or, you know, a mildly enthusiastic crowd). Also confirmed are FLORENCE BLACK, the rising Merthyr Tydfil trio delivering heavy-hitting anthems with serious swagger (who?), and the soul-charged CARDINAL BLACK, whose ascent continues at lightning pace (okay, maybe they’re alright). 🤷♀️
Blackbird Festival 2026 marks the next chapter in ALTER BRIDGE‘s evolution, arriving just months after the release of their highly anticipated self-titled eighth studio album, due January 9, 2026 via Napalm Records. (Napalm Records? Really? 🤣) Produced once again by longtime collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette, the album promises to deliver the powerful, emotionally driven sound the band is known for (insert yawn here) – setting the stage for a massive year that includes their spring 2026 European arena tour (good for them, I guess) and this landmark festival celebration in Cardiff, Wales. (Someone get me a pint…or six!) 🍻
Tickets for Blackbird Festival are on sale now via blackbirdfest.com and Ticketmaster. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) 😈
Fans can explore VIP upgrades, full tour dates, and tickets for all ALTER BRIDGE performances at alterbridge.com. (Because who wouldn’t want to spend more money on this? 😂)
