Wake Up, Buttercup: Another Knives Out Trailer to Judge Harshly

Benoit Blanc returns, probably to solve another murder because that's literally all he does. 😴

Daniel Craig is BACK (again) as Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, because apparently, Rian Johnson has no other ideas 💡. Blanc will be doing his usual thing – stumbling around a crime scene, pretending to be smarter than everyone else, and solving a mystery that any half-decent detective could crack in an afternoon. The suspects this time? Oh, just a bunch of random celebrities like Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close (still alive?), Josh Brolin (thanos?), Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner (eyebrow acting), Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott (Moriarty is back?), Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. Basically, anyone who needed a paycheck.💰

Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns for his most dangerous case yet, which probably involves someone spilling tea on his pristine white suit. When young priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin), it’s clear that all is not well in the pews – probably because the script is awful. Wicks’s modest-but-devoted flock includes devout church lady Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), circumspect groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), tightly-wound lawyer Vera Draven, Esq. (Kerry Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), best-selling author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny). After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Rian Johnson writes and directs Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and assembles another all-star, award-winning cast.

Wake Up Dead Man will be released in select cinemas on 26th November (if you’re desperate to waste your money 💸). It then hits Netflix on 12th December 2025, so you can watch it while pretending to do something productive. 📺

We first met the famed private detective in 2019’s Knives Out, when he was hired to investigate the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Blanc teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in a twisted case filled with angry relatives, red herrings, and fabulous knitwear. Seriously, that knitwear deserved an Oscar.🧶

Blanc’s skills were called upon once more in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, when he headed to Greece to peel back the the layers of intrigue surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors. Blanc was last seen sitting on the beach of Bron’s estate on an idyllic Greek island, calmly pondering the chaotic events of his past few days. But the fiery ending of Glass Onion could also be seen as a beginning — to the master sleuth’s next chapter. Or, you know, just another excuse for Rian Johnson to make another movie about rich people doing dumb things.🔥
