My Hero Academia is Still a Thing and Somehow its 10th Anniversary is Already Here with a Fancy New Picture to Distract You from How Long Youve Been Waiting for Episode 171

My Hero Academia 1

Big News for all you My Hero Academia Fans out there! 🎉👏 TOHO animation just announced a free streaming marathon to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show, and let me tell you, it’s going to be EPIC 🤩! They’re including a brand new visual, and I’m not talking about a new haircut for Deku 🤣, but an actual new visual for the upcoming episode “More”. And the best part? It’s all happening on May 2, 2026, exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide (excluding Asia, because, you know, Asia is like that one cousin who always gets left out 🤷‍♀️).

So, even though My Hero Academia is technically over 🙅‍♂️, Studio BONES is still going to animate the very last chapter of the manga, because why not, right? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, who needs closure when you can just keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny 🐰? And to celebrate this momentous occasion, TOHO has released a new English version key visual for the highly anticipated “More” episode, which premieres on May 2, 2026. I’m not going to spoil it for you, but let’s just say it’s going to be a real tear-jerker 😭.

Marking a decade since the anime’s debut on April 3rd, 2016, My Hero Academia remains one of the most successful anime franchises worldwide 🌎, and I’m not surprised, because who wouldn’t love a show about a bunch of teenagers with superpowers fighting villains and saving the world 🌟? I mean, it’s not like we’ve seen that before or anything 🙄. Following the conclusion of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga in August 2024, after selling over 100 million copies globally, the series spans eight seasons, 170 episodes, and four feature films 🎥. That’s a lot of content, folks! And to celebrate, TOHO has launched the “My Hero Academia 10th Anniversary: Free Binge Marathon — Early Seasons (1–3)”, a limited-time worldwide streaming event available on their official YouTube channel 📺.

The special May episode adapts the manga’s 431st chapter, originally included in the final volume 📚, and follows Izuku “Deku” Midoriya and his classmates eight years after graduating from U.A. High School 🎓. Because, you know, who doesn’t love a good timeskip ⏰? And as part of the anniversary celebration, TOHO has also released a new visual for the upcoming episode, which shows off Deku, Shoto, Bakugo, Froppy, and Urahara post-eight-year timeskip, travelling through the city 🚶‍♂️. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, we know the show is over, but let’s just pretend it’s not and keep going” 🤷‍♀️.

Here is the streaming schedule, because you’re probably dying to know when you can binge-watch all your favorite episodes 📆:

Season 1 (Episodes 1–13) April 3, 2026, 5:00 AM PT – May 3, 2026, 7:59 AM PT 🕰️
Season 2 (Episodes 14–26) April 30, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – May 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT 🕰️
Season 2 (Episodes 27–38) May 31, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – June 30, 2026, 7:59 AM PT 🕰️
Season 3 (Episodes 39–51) June 30, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – July 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT 🕰️
Season 3 (Episodes 52–63) July 31, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – August 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT 🕰️

While the marathon will not include airing all eight seasons for free, it provides enough content to hook new viewers or provide enough nostalgia for returning fans 📺. One of the two key visuals shows the 10th anniversary logo with many of the main characters who made it through the whole series, all standing in front of the iconic yellow background from the Season 1 visual and first manga volume 📸. The second key visual shows off Deku, Shoto, Bakugo, Froppy, and Urahara post-eight-year timeskip, travelling through the city 🚶‍♂️. Because, you know, who doesn’t love a good timeskip ⏰?

CGMagazine’s definitive My Hero Academia series review scored the anime a 9/10 for its treatment of “side characters”, outstanding voice cast, and setting the right mood with a good score each season 📚. CGMagazine has also interviewed numerous English voice actors of the main cast, who said goodbye to their characters 🎤. The My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary celebration will continue throughout 2026 with further projects, including a global concert tour, collaborations, and announcements to be revealed in the coming months on the 10th Anniversary Project Special website 🎉. Be sure to check back in when Episode 171 drops, where we will discuss it 💬. 🤔👀💥
