Oh no, the sky is falling! CROWBAR’s European tour is canceled, and I’m totally not surprised 🙄. I mean, who needs to see a legendary doom metal band like CROWBAR when you can just stay home and listen to their albums instead? 🤷♂️. But seriously, the reason for the cancellation is due to frontman Kirk Windstein’s “physical health” issues, because touring for 36 years will do that to you, folks 🤦♂️. Windstein has a bilateral synovial cyst on his spine that’s acting up, and I’m pretty sure that’s just a fancy way of saying “old man back” 😂.
So, the 12-date “Confess To Nothing” European tour, which was set to kick off on July 27, 2026, at the Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Brașov, Romania, and conclude on August 7, 2026, at the Alcatraz Metal Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium, is officially canceled 🚫. Windstein released a video message explaining the situation, and I’m sure it was a real tear-jerker 🤣. He mentioned that he’s starting physical therapy tomorrow, because you know what they say: “you’re not getting older, you’re just getting more metal” 🤘.
The Reason Behind the Cancellation
Apparently, Windstein’s synovial cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms between joints in the spine, which is a real mouthful 🤯. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it’s a common condition in the lumbar spine, which is just a fancy way of saying “lower back” 🤦♂️. I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure that’s just a fancy way of saying “you’re getting old, dude” 😂.
CROWBAR’s History and Legacy
CROWBAR was formed in 1990 from the ashes of THE SLUGS!, and original members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower had a vision to create their own brand of doom metal with a bit of upbeat hardcore mixed in 🤘. They were influenced by the likes of THE MELVINS, CARNIVORE, TROUBLE, SAINT VITUS, and BLACK SABBATH, which is basically a metalhead’s dream come true 🤩. Windstein is the only original member left, and he’s helped carry the band through numerous lineups and twelve critically acclaimed albums 📚.
So, what’s next for CROWBAR? Well, they’re not rescheduling the tour, but they’re planning to make up the shows next year when they’re back in Europe 🗺️. I’m sure it’ll be a real blast, and I’ll be there with bells on… or not 🤷♂️. In the meantime, we can all just listen to their latest album, “Zero And Below”, which came out in April 2022 via MNRK Heavy 🎸. It’s been described as their “most unforgivably doom-driven record” since their 1998 landmark effort “Odd Fellows Rest”, which is basically a metalhead’s seal of approval 🤘.
In conclusion, CROWBAR’s European tour cancellation is a real bummer, but I’m sure they’ll be back to their doom metal ways in no time 🕰️. After all, you can’t keep a good band down, especially when they’re as legendary as CROWBAR 🤘. So, let’s all just raise a glass (of cheap beer) to Kirk Windstein’s back, and hope that it gets better soon 🍺. Cheers! 🎉
