Vance Parrots Trump’s Totally Made-Up $19 Trillion Investment Claim

Vance Parrots Trump's Totally Made-Up $19 Trillion Investment Claim

Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest from the White House, and I just can’t help but raise an eyebrow. It seems that President Donald Trump has been using a fictional economic figure for months, and Vice President JD Vance just echoed it. According to Vance, the administration has seen “$19 trillion of new investment come into the country.” Yeah, because that sounds totally legit. I mean, who needs actual data when you can just make up a big number, right?

I’m looking at the article, and it says that the White House has never been able to explain where this number comes from. In fact, when CNN asked about it, they couldn’t get a straight answer. The White House’s own website claims there have been “$11 trillion” in “major investment announcements” this presidential term, but even that number is a stretch. A detailed CNN review found that the White House had counted trillions of dollars in vague pledges and statements that didn’t even rise to the level of pledges. You can’t make this stuff up, folks.

The actual data from the federal government shows that new foreign direct investment in the US was about $232 billion in 2025. That’s a far cry from the “$19 trillion” or even the “$11 trillion” claimed by the White House. I’m no economist, but it seems to me that someone is playing fast and loose with the numbers. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and now we’ve got a whole story about it.

It gets even better. Trump has steadily increased the baseless investment figure, from “$17 trillion” last fall to “$19.2 trillion” last week, and now he’s saying it’s over “$20 trillion”. But when CNN asked for evidence, the White House spokesperson just emailed a reply saying “President Trump is right” without providing any actual evidence. Because, you know, that’s a totally valid way to respond to a question about factual data.

The spokesperson, Kush Desai, said that “President Trump is right: business leaders from across the world and across industries are lining up to invest in the United States thanks to the Trump administration’s pro-growth agenda.” Okay, sure, because that’s exactly what I want to hear from a government spokesperson – a bunch of fluff without any substance. I mean, who needs facts when you’ve got a good sales pitch, right?

In conclusion, it seems like the White House is having a hard time keeping their numbers straight. But hey, who needs accuracy when you’re trying to make a point, right? It’s all just a big game of telephone, and we’re all just along for the ride. As I finish my coffee, I’m left wondering what other creative math tricks the White House has up its sleeve. Maybe they’ll start claiming that 2 + 2 = 5 next. Now that’s a number I’d like to see them try to explain.
