More TV Shows To Forget Exist In A Week Or Less Apparently

Aurora Press1 06 04 25 Horizontal 1

It’s another week in the never-ending deluge of streaming content, and we’re back to guide you through the latest batch of new TV shows and series. Because, apparently, there just aren’t enough options out there for you to waste your precious time on. This week, the highlights include the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender in a new animated series, a star-studded Netflix horror series, and a reality show where bakers try to create cakes that look like everyday Halloween objects. Because, you know, that’s exactly what the world was missing.

If you’re in the market for a new series to stream, or you need a last-minute binge, or you are just trying to keep tabs on the latest seasons of old favorites, we have got you covered. We love movies, but sometimes you don’t want a 90-minute, one-and-done entertainment. Sometimes you want that deep dive that’s going to take days or weeks to finish. Sometimes you want long-term storytelling and rich characters. And sometimes, you just want to watch something that’s not a movie, because, let’s be honest, the movie industry has been running on fumes for years now.

This week, you can watch the return of the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender in a new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens. The creators of the original series return to their signature creation with a new series set centuries after the events of The Legend of Korra, where a cataclysm has splintered the world and a new group of Avatars rises to face new adversaries. Because, of course, the world needs another iteration of the Avatar franchise. I mean, who doesn’t love a good cash-grab?

New TV Shows and Series to Waste Your Time On

Also premiering this week is Below, a mystery series starring Josh Hartnett and Charlie Heaton, which involves a coastal town terrorized by a “mysterious sea creature.” Meanwhile, “a fisherman must fight to protect his family and his community’s vanishing way of life.” Sounds like your run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter horror series, but hey, at least it’s got some big names attached to it. And who knows, maybe it’ll be the next big thing. Or maybe it’ll just be another forgotten series lost in the depths of Netflix’s abyss.

Another highlight this week is the premiere of Rage: Season 2 on HBO Max. This series from Spain focuses on five women facing extreme situations that will unleash their rage. The trailer for this one looks intriguing, and who doesn’t love a good story about women fighting back against the patriarchy? It’s like the perfect recipe for a critically-acclaimed series: take a dash of social justice, add a pinch of empowerment, and sprinkle some controversy on top. Voila! You’ve got yourself a hit show.

More of the Same, Because You Clearly Haven’t Had Enough

And if you thought that was all, think again. This week also sees the premiere of Is It Cake? Halloween: Season 2, where six extremely skilled bakers compete to determine who can make the most lifelike (and spooky) cakes. Because, you know, the world was just missing a reality show about cake-making. I mean, who needs actual substance when you can just watch people bake cakes all day? And hey, at least it’s not as boring as watching paint dry. Although, if someone did make a show about watching paint dry, I’m sure it would be a huge hit.

Also, as part of the ongoing fifth season of the animated series Big City Greens, there’s a special Halloween-themed episode where Cricket’s Halloween pranks go too far, and a vengeful scarecrow shows up. Because, of course, every show needs a Halloween episode, even if it’s just a cheap excuse to sell more merchandise. And hey, who doesn’t love a good scarecrow? They’re like the perfect symbol of the entertainment industry: empty, hollow, and only good for scaring people into giving them money.

As the Content Mines continue to churn out more and more content, it’s getting harder to keep track of what’s worth watching and what’s just a waste of time. But hey, at least we have the comfort of knowing that the Merchandising Department is always hard at work, churning out new toys and gadgets for us to buy. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll get a movie based on Is It Cake?, because that’s exactly what the world needs: a feature-length film about cake-making. The Franchise Resurrection Department is probably already on it, because why not? It’s not like they have any better ideas. Somewhere, an executive is whispering, “Can this become a trilogy?” And I’m sure the answer is a resounding yes, because that’s just how Hollywood works.
