FOO FIGHTERS, those purveyors of dad-rock and stadium anthems for people who still think flannel is cool, are gracing us with their presence once again! 🙄 Fresh off their *monumental* 2023-2024 “Everything Or Nothing At All” tour (yes, the one that sold out football and baseball fields to screaming hordes of middle-aged nostalgia-seekers), they’re back for more.
Get ready to open your wallets, folks! This time, they’re kicking things off on August 4 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, bringing their unique brand of “maximum volume euphoria” (read: predictable riffs and Dave Grohl’s patented scream-singing) to a whopping 12 North American cities. The grand finale (for now, until they inevitably announce another tour) will be September 26 at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium. And, because no FOO FIGHTERS show is complete without another band trying to recapture their former glory, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will be there to provide direct support…except in Fargo. Sorry, Fargo. Guess you weren’t cool enough. General on-sale starts Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m. local time. Prepare for Ticketmaster to crash! 🤘
But wait, there’s more! As if the promise of overpriced tickets and lukewarm beer wasn’t enough, the FOO FIGHTERS are also blessing our ears with a new song, “Asking For A Friend.” Apparently, it’s got a “decidedly darker melodic approach” than their previous chart-topper, “Today’s Song.” Oh, so edgy! 🖤 Instead of catchy melodies, this one amps up the “energy and intensity” with “hypnotic opening verses” that build into “impassioned refrains” of “What is real? I’m asking for a friend…” Profound, I know. By the time the song reaches its climax with a “throat-shredding ‘Or is this the end?'”, you’ll be so emotionally drained that you’ll gladly hand over your credit card for that $20 t-shirt. 🐑
Dave Grohl, ever the philosopher, shared his profound thoughts on the new music and tour in a lengthy post. He rambled on about how their return to the stage in San Luis Obispo reminded them why they love doing the FOO FIGHTERS thing. From dusting off 30 years’ worth of songs (because originality is overrated, right?) to “reimagining versions” with the “incredible blessing” of Ilan Rubin on drums, they’re just so grateful. And, of course, they wouldn’t be here without their “amazing fans.” Because let’s be real, who else would buy this stuff? He ended his speech with an inspiring sentence: “And the sun is finally rising over the horizon. What better way to share the view than with close friends?”. Wow! 🌅
He then proceeded to reminisce about seeing KYUSS in 1992 and meeting Josh Homme. Apparently, KYUSS‘s album ‘Blues For The Red Sun’ was the soundtrack to his summer. Flash forward 33 years, and they’re still friends! Awwww, so heartwarming. 🥰 He went on to say that he has shared some of his life’s “most rewarding musical moments” with Josh. So, naturally, they’re dragging QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE along for the ride. It’s all about that “lifelong bond,” you know? He adds: “So it is with great happiness that we can share this next chapter together with his almighty QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE”.🙄
But wait, there’s even more sap! Grohl declared that “none of this would be complete without new music” from him and the other guys. He added that ‘Asking For A Friend’ is a song “for those who have waited patiently in the cold, relying on hope and faith for their horizon to appear. Searching for ‘proof’ when hanging by a wish until the sun shines again.” So deep! Like the titanic! Who knew Dave Grohl was such a poet? 🤡
“One of many songs to come…”
