Dave Grohl's Mini-Me Strikes Again!

Move over, dad—Violet Grohl is here to prove that rock ‘n’ roll royalty doesn’t just inherit talent, it inherits a record deal too! The 19-year-old daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl has officially announced her debut album, “Be Sweet To Me”, dropping May 29 via Republic Records. Because why let nepotism go to waste when you can launch an imprint called Auroura Records? (Spoiler: It’s probably named after a dream she had in middle school.)

Her latest single, “595”, is inspired by a vintage t-shirt advertising a phone sex line. Yes, you read that right. The track is described as a “sly and sexy slasher” with a chorus that promises to ruin your day: “I’ll be your 1-900-G spot, baby / 595 I’m on the line / You won’t last.” Wow, Violet, we didn’t know you were auditioning for a gig at a 90s hotline. Bold move.

The album was recorded in Justin Raisen’s LA studio with a crew of session musicians who probably thought they were signing up for a nostalgic throwback session—until they realized they were working with Grohl’s kid. The first song, “THUM”, was allegedly inspired by anti-nail-biting polish. Because nothing screams “rockstar” like obsessing over your cuticles.

Violet’s influences? Oh, just the usual suspects: PIXIES, SOUNDGARDEN, COCTEAU TWINS, and L7. Classic alt-rock vibes, because nothing says “I’m original” like copying your dad’s record collection. She also loves David Lynch, which explains why her song “Bug In A Cake” is about her dead grandma haunting her TV. Spooky!

Preorder options include black, blueberry jam (exclusive to indie retailers), and ivory vinyl (exclusive to her official store). Because if you’re going to gatekeep, might as well do it with pastel-colored wax.

The tracklist is a rollercoaster of titles like “Last Day I Loved You” and “Pool Of My Dream”, proving that Violet is either deeply profound or just really into random word association. Either way, we’re here for it.

In January, she released “What’s Heaven Without You”, a haunting track inspired by the Altadena fires and David Lynch. It’s described as “atmospheric” with “ethereal synths,” which is code for “we added a lot of reverb and called it art.”

Violet will also perform at the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta this September. Because if there’s one thing the world needs, it’s more opportunities to see Dave Grohl’s offspring live. Tickets are probably already sold out to fans who just want to say they saw her before she inevitably joins the Foo Fighters.

Fun fact: Violet once performed Adele’s “When We Were Young” with her dad at age 12. Since then, she’s done everything from backing vocals for St. Vincent to covering Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box”. It’s almost like she’s been preparing for this moment her entire life. Almost.

So, mark your calendars for May 29 and get ready to stream “Be Sweet To Me”—because if there’s one thing we love, it’s watching nepotism in action. Rock on, Violet. Or don’t. We’ll still listen.
