Because We Needed Another Apex Legends Crossover Obviously

Because apparently we haven’t milked this franchise enough yet, EA and Respawn Entertainment are teaming up with CD PROJEKT RED to bring us an Apex Legends x Cyberpunk Event, because who doesn’t love a good crossover? I mean, it’s not like we’ve seen enough of these events in the past few years, where two beloved franchises come together to create something that’s almost, but not quite, as good as the sum of its parts. The event is set to launch on July 14, 2026, and will bring the Cyberpunk universe to the world of Apex Legends, because what’s more thrilling than a battle royale with a dash of cyberpunk flair?

The Event: A Match Made in Heaven

The Apex Legends x Cyberpunk Event promises to be an exciting collaboration, featuring new Legend and Weapon skins from Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Players will be able to step into the Night City E-District, a new map that’s loosely inspired by the chaotic world of Cyberpunk. The map will feature all the familiar sights and sounds of Night City, including towering neon skyboxes, holographic koi swimming in the skies, and glitched-out signage. It’s like they took all the best parts of Cyberpunk and mashed them together with Apex Legends, creating a Frankenstein’s monster of a game mode.

As part of the event, players will be able to participate in a new Wildcard event, featuring Cyberware mods that reference David and Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The Sandevistan mod will allow players to dash in any direction, chain two dashes to close the gaps before touching the ground, and escape from danger. The Blackwall Breach mod, on the other hand, will allow players to phase into the Net to reposition and unleash a devastating blast that breaks enemies’ shields as they return from the Net. It’s like they took all the best parts of Cyberpunk’s lore and smashed them together with Apex Legends’ gameplay, creating a beautiful mess of a game mode.

Cyberware Mods: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

The Cyberware mods will come with a twist, however. Players will need to monitor their Cyberware Capacity, as using the mods too much can lead to Cyberpsychosis. This means that players will be granted high-speed movement and devastating melee damage, but they won’t be able to wield weapons, abilities, shields, or ordnance. It’s like they took all the excitement of Cyberpunk’s cyberware and turned it into a game of risk and reward. Do you use the mods and risk going into Cyberpsychosis, or do you play it safe and stick with your trusty old gun? The choice is yours, and yours alone.

But fear not, dear players, for there’s a cure for Cyberpsychosis. Immunoblocker Syringes will be scattered across the map, allowing players to reverse their condition and get back to the action. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, you can upgrade your Skippy Alternator with Exotic Shards, unlocking new visuals, ordnance skins, and knock effects. It’s like they took all the best parts of Apex Legends’ monetization and mashed them together with Cyberpunk’s lore, creating a beautiful mess of a game mode.

Skins and More Skins

As with any good event, there will be plenty of skins to go around. Players will be able to purchase Legend and Weapon skins in the Reward Shop using Eddies earned throughout the event. The skins will include the likes of Arasaka Epic Valkyrie Skin, Kang-Tao Epic Skin, and many more. And if you’re feeling extra stylish, you can pick up one of the eight Legend Skins available, featuring characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077. It’s like they took all the best parts of both franchises and mashed them together into a big ol’ skin pack.

The skins will include the likes of Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, available for Axle, and David from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, available for Sparrow. You’ll also be able to pick up skins for Female V and Male V from Cyberpunk 2077, available for Lifeline and Crypto, respectively. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, you can grab skins for Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, available for Rampart, or Panam from Cyberpunk 2077, available for Loba. It’s like they took all the best parts of both franchises and turned them into a big ol’ skin pack.

Conclusion: The Never-Ending Story

And so, another day, another event in the world of Apex Legends. The Apex Legends x Cyberpunk Event promises to be an exciting collaboration, featuring all the best parts of both franchises mashed together into a beautiful mess of a game mode. With new Legend and Weapon skins, Cyberware mods, and a whole lot of chaos, this event is sure to be a hit with fans of both series. Live-service enthusiasts are preparing the candles and summoning circle, and shareholders are rejoicing at the thought of all those sweet, sweet Eddies rolling in. The question is, will this event be enough to keep players coming back for more, or will it be just another footnote in the never-ending story of Apex Legends? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: it’ll be a wild ride. At this point, even the loading screens have lore, and Nature is healing. The PS2 memory card community is devastated, but that’s a story for another time.
