Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Donald Trump’s latest remarks, and I have to say, it’s a wild ride. He’s asking Americans if they remember a massive television outage two years ago, which, of course, never happened. I mean, you can’t make this stuff up. Trump has a history of telling imaginary tales, and this one’s a doozy. He’s been railing against wind energy for years, trying to thwart it, and making false claims about it. This time, he’s spinning a yarn about people not being able to watch TV when the wind isn’t blowing. I’m surprised he didn’t say the wind was blowing so hard it was blowing away the TVs themselves.
Now, I know Trump loves to tell stories, but this one’s a real stretch. He’s claiming that people couldn’t watch the debate between him and Joe Biden because the wind wasn’t blowing. Uh, no. More than 51 million people watched that debate on TV alone, according to Nielsen estimates. And, by the way, Texas, which produces the most wind-powered electricity, is also a state that Trump won. You’d think he’d be proud of that, but instead, he’s making up stories about the wind.
Trump’s also been promoting the idea that the Green New Deal would have led to a 10-year push to meet all of the country’s power demand through “clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy.” But Congress never passed it, and Biden never signed it. And, fun fact, wind was responsible for about 10% of US net electricity generation in 2024. Not exactly the scary scenario Trump’s trying to paint.
It’s not just the wind story, though. Trump told other false tales at the same event. He claimed California has “brownouts and blackouts every weekend,” which is simply not true. A spokesperson for Gov. Gavin Newsom said there hasn’t been a rolling blackout in nearly six years in California. I guess Trump’s trying to make California sound like a war zone or something.
And, because why not, Trump also lamented that he gets “no credit” for the US receiving $19.2 trillion in investment during his first 12 months in office. Except, that’s not a real thing. The US didn’t actually receive anywhere close to that amount in investment during his term. It’s just another fabrication, folks.
In conclusion, it’s just another day in the world of politics, where facts are optional, and storytelling is an art form. Trump’s got a vivid imagination, I’ll give him that. But, seriously, folks, it’s time to separate fact from fiction. And, as I finish my coffee, I’m left wondering what other tall tales Trump will spin next. Bless his heart, indeed. 🙄
